AFC Bournemouth is a different prospect than Burnley FC

Can we learn how Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall will tackle the Championship by what they have done before at Burnley FC, where the two of them spent 21 months with the Lancashire club in England's second tier of league football?

Eddie and Jason took over at Burnely FC when in January 2011 Bryan Laws was sacked. Burnley had been in the Premiership in 2009-10 and were expected to be among the contenders to bounce straight back up, but it didn't really happen Bryan Laws. For Eddie and Jason it all started well with 6 wins, 2 draws and just one defeat in the first 9 games. But for a moderate spell after Christmas they would have been in the play-offs. In the end Burnley finished 8th in the 2011-12 season. The next season was proving harder still as Burnley were 16th in the table having only won one of their last six games when Eddie and Jason left them in October 2012. Turf Moor became a hard place to get a home win with 13 in 35 games and away there were 16 wins in 40 attempts for Eddie.

Howe admitted that it was challenging but an enjoyable job when he was at Burnley. Eddie
talked of having bought talented such players as Charlie Austin and Ben Mee it was just the consistency that was proving hard to achieve. At Burnley Howe had to cut the wage bill and sell many big named players. It was a massive rebuilding exercise. But will it be any more difficult for him with AFC Bournemouth?

Bournemouth will come at the challenge from the other end of the scale with a team of less experience but which has been knitted together well and already plays attractive football. AFCB probably has equally as talented players as Burnley, maybe even better. We do have financial constraints, but I feel Jason and Eddie are happier at Bournemouth and will be keen to prove that they can hack it at this level after their previous attempts. The two of them were not so far off the play-offs with Burnley in their first season. They know what it takes in the Championship.

Eddie still craves more success for AFCB
In a way, Eddie and Jason's spell at Burnley is something that AFCB will really prosper from now. They have done their homework on the teams in the Championship and AFCB are used to winning at league One  level. Now it's up to Howe and Tindall to show how they can guide AFCB safely through its first return season to the Championship.

It's a different project but not an impossible task.
