All eyes on Elphick

It is a bit worrying that we have not seen Tommy Elphick play in the Championship yet. A tweaked back in training seems to have ruled him out of the Watford game. I am sure he would have been selected if he had been fit because his leadership is something we need when playing the best teams in the league.

The back four did not do badly for half of the match, but one slip in concentration really put us on the back foot for the rest of the second half. I would also like to see Elphick with Cook for a few matches just to give us that understanding at the back that last season's success was built on. I think Ward has done a reasonable job but he and Cook need to be more vocal and start bossing things at the back.

The other injury that AFCB picked up on Saturday was Charlie Daniels of course and his drive will be missed if he does not get back for the Wigan game. Ian Harte will no doubt deputise.

Having lost heavily away the next home game becomes even more important for confidence and we don't really need our leaders in the sick bay.

I was very encouraged to hear Zola's comments about AFCB after the match. While it is easy to speak kindly after such an emphatic win, AFCB were left a bit shell-shocked by the high scoreline and on another day the victory would not have been so large. I guess we will get to do it all again in the Capital One  tie.
