Pitman will be pressing to keep his place

I get a bit protective of Brett Pitman in an AFCB shirt. I don't know why he has this lazy tag when he puts so much effort in for the team on the pitch. If you look at the Burnley match he made  a fabulous intervention with an overhead kick from Shackell's header that would have gone in the back of the net had the forward not come back to clear the Cherries line in the first half. Moreover, there was one moment in the second half when Brett must have chased and harried a Burnley player for some 40 yards up to half way before putting in a tackle and preventing another Burnley attack.

Can Brett get a scoring run going?

I admit that there are games when he plays on the shoulder of the last defender and doesn't have the opportunity to get as involved in play as much as he might like, but in recent games it has been Rantie or Grabban who is usually furthest forward. Brett looked really pleased just to be back on the pitch and in a starting 11. The opportunities have not been as many as he might have expected on his return to they Championship, but he has got his head down and even helped out Rantie through his early days at the club.

It can't have been easy for Brett seeing Grabban doing well and getting the goals and Tokelo coming in to give the Cherries the pace up front that Eddie Howe seems to want to use. I still believe Brett will get a reasonable run in the team as his kind of deadly finishing is always in demand, especially if he starts to hit a rich vein of form like he did towards the end of last season.

Brett was a bit late joining up with team mates for the Forest game.

What Brett needs to do to make sure the manager picks him more often is hard to say. All he can do is his best during training and on match day, when he gets the opportunity. I did enjoy Brett's post-match interview from the Burnley match when he was asked about other players coming back, like Matt who? He is cheeky and has a big smile on his face at the moment which is great to see. I think the mood in the camp is pretty good.

Keep doing what you are doing Brett, because I don't think I am alone in saying we want you to do well.
