Could it be a bumper points Christmas for the Cherries?

I don't want to get too down or too optimistic about the Cherries fortunes this Christmas period. As the games now come thick and fast a few wins could transform the table, but even then we have already seen how form can desert teams. It is good to hear that Eddie Howe is confident that the team is progressing and not as naive as in the opening part of the season. Kicking on though is not all that easy.

We have seen some great performances both individual and collectively. The difficulty in this league though is continually reaching those high standards. AFCB simply haven't managed to string a run together yet and that has been one of the reasons why the good performances have not really been reflected with a higher position in the table. Teams like Blackburn, Ipswich and Brighton have not been tearing other teams apart but they have managed to get some back-to-back wins or go on a few match unbeaten run. 

It's hard to know why your team can suddenly string a series of results together. The performance levels that Eddie Howe sees suggest that AFCB are playing similarly each week, but I wonder is that is really true?

If you talk merely about possession I would say that AFCB are getting to grips with that side of their game. But I wouldn't say the finishing is the same every week or the defensive qualities. Still Eddie and Jason always need something to work on and there is confidence in this side that the results will come.

Looking at the points tally, it is not a bad haul so far. You just know that the odd win against some of those other teams that have been around us would have made life a lot more comfortable going into the second half of the season. I know I'm greedy, but I suspect that things are going to step up a gear in the New Year and those who don't step up are going to find gaps appearing in the table. Come on Cherries, let's find fifth gear! UTCIAD!
