Defeat at Wigan shouldn't disguise the progress AFCB have made

No one is very happy when their team loses. A 3:0 defeat away at Wigan is not what Cherry fans ordered this weekend, but it happens. How much will Eddie Howe have learnt from this lesson? That is the important question.
Regroup and go again.
AFCB did not play as well as they have done in recent weeks and were caught out early by a wonder goal. After that I had a feeling that things were not going to get much better with Wigan's strong record after scoring first. If you look at the players that Wigan had on the pitch compared to the value of Bournemouth's, our fans should not be too disappointed that the Cherries were undone this time. Having taken three points off of the Latics earlier in the season honours are even. We would surely have taken that before a ball was kicked in August.

AFCB's away performances have been good in recent weeks and the latest results shows how good past performances were. To let three goals in away from home is not great reading and Eddie will need to address some of the mistakes that were made. To me it is more about the team defending as a whole rather than just the back four. Losing possession in vital areas is something that quality sides will always seize upon. AFCB probably needed three Eunan O'Kane's in front of the back four at times to protect them, but no team is allowed such a luxury.

Going a goal down early has been a problem. And this time it was too much to ask. Still I reckon fans should try and forget about this result and concentrate on the future. We have a big week coming up with two crucial games in the cup and the league. It is about getting the players minds focused on these games now. The fact that AFCB have done so well in the past few weeks means that Eddie can say erase the Wigan defeat from your memories. Some days you simply come up against teams that are too strong.

The fact that players, the manager and fans are disappointed tells me that this club has the right attitude and the aim is simply to get closer to these teams next season. So chin up and look forward to this next week.
