Is the pressure on the Cherries against Burton?

While the outside world will rightly make AFCB favourites against Burton Albion on tonight, matches have to be won on the park and not on paper. Burton are going well in League Two as Eddie Howe will be will aware of and he will be stressing that AFCB have to play to their strengths and not fall into the trap of making this a battle. Bournemouth can pass their way into the next round with possession football and clinical finishing, if they are on their game and are patient. Sure the pressure is on them because of the opponent in the next round. The fans want to see Liverpool at Dean Court and so do the players. That is stressful, but it is something that our players can deliver and it should excite them.

The players will know this is their chance to win AFCB a superb prize.

Getting the best out of AFCB players on such occasions is the task that Eddie Howe has. He has to get them up for the match and I think his job has been made easier by the defeat at the weekend. He can use that to fire them up. They can reward those travelling fans at Wigan as well as the other AFCB fans that have followed them this season with a ticket to a match that we could only ever dream about. A fourth round tie with Liverpool would be as exciting as the visit of Real Madrid in my book. It would be a game to savour, fans will want to remember every moment of it, no matter what the score.

Burton came from behind to win 2:1 at the weekend against Cheltenham, taking them to 45 points and keeping them second in division two. Know one said this would be an easy match for the Cherries and AFCB will have to play well. Look out for Dominic Knowles who scored a brace for the Brewers against Cheltenham and Zeli Ismail who provided the two assists.

If the Bournemouth players don't manage a win against Burton, Eddie Howe will really have to earn his money in picking them up again for the match against Watford. I don't think any of us want him to be put in that position and it's down to the players and the crowd at tonight's game to set the right atmosphere and tempo to the game to get the victory. In a way, many football supporters looking on will say AFCB fans are already the winners of this third round tie for donating the coaches for the Burton fans to play their part in the evening. The charity is over ow though, there's a game to win. To the victor the spoils! UTCIAD!
