Grabban likes to do the spectacular

I suppose the one player in the minds of all opposition teams when they come to play Bournemouth is Lewis Grabban. They must be wondering how good he is and what exactly is his quality about. Eddie Howe speaks wondrously about his non-stop running and his work rate for the team. We know he has scored many goals from the penalty spot but he has started to do something else. Yes, he's banging in snap shots from outside the box and taking keepers by surprise.
Grabban is up to 15 goals for the season.
It's not just the Blackburn game when he has done this. Remember that other winder strike he had against Bolton in February from outside the area. I don't know if he has been working on turning quickly and getting a shot off when players are expecting him to look up and pass the ball, but he is developing his game with some rather special goals.

It is about now when we start to think about who should be our player of the season and for all his goals I still believe that Grabban goes under the radar a bit. I am not sure why that is. He does so much right and is so often on his own and keeps possession for the team when he has no right to, and yet he does not get as much credit as I think he should. That may well start to change very quickly if he keeps putting the ball in the back of the net.

The arrival of Yann Kermorgant though has maybe worked in his favour. While the fans have instantly taken to Yann it just seems to have made Grabban want to keep his place even more. I maybe reading more into that than is true. Still we have seen Grabban dip in form around this time of the year before and that isn't happening this season. He is kicking on and is really repaying Eddie Howe and the fans. It is great to see a settled striker and if the team can get Yann and the other strikers contributing to the goal tally, the Cherries could still finish a lot higher than most of us would have expected.

If there was once criticism I could sense about the Blackburn win is was that the team did not score more goals on the night. That might be harsh but it also means there is more to come.
