The pressure is all on Charlton

Bournemouth's visit to the Valley will be a fairly pleasurable evening out for Cherry supporters. For once they will not be worried about taking on a team that for several seasons has been higher placed in the leagues and was able to poach some of the Cherries best players. The tables have turned and this season saw the arrival of Yann Kermorgant at Dean Court much to the consternation of many Addicks. Charlton's current position in the table gives them little reason to be happy either and with talk about ownership changes and a new manager taking over from Chris Powell all is not as happy as it might be at the Valley.

The first opportunity to improve matters really came and went for Charlton at the weekend when they played Millwall in what was a six pointer, but they only got a point in a game they desperately needed to win. Still they are off the bottom and that will have given them some hope, especially as they have four games in hand on Millwall who are just above them. Jose Riga was not displeased with the outcome of their last game so AFCB have to take on a team that are really looking to get a positive result against them which I think will help the Cherries if they can frustrate Charlton in the opening 30 minutes.

Charlton have struggled for goals all season and their leading scorer Simon Church only has seven to his name and he only came on for the last 12 minutes against Millwall. A positive for them was the two year contract extension that Jonnie Jackson signed last week. The 31 year old striker is the captain and his signature must have given the fans some pleasure. But not much else has been going right.

The January signing of Reza Goochannejhad has not yet made an impact as the striker has failed to score while Loic Nego has only made one appearance at full back. But the bright nes for the Addicks is the resigning of 23-year old striker Jonathan Obika from Spurs on loan.

Charlton have only one a single match in their last 10, but what a match. It was a 1-0 home win against QPR. They are not scoring that many but as we know 1-0 victories are all you need. Charlton have 24 goals this season compared to Bournemouth's 44, although the cherries have played three more games. What Charlton have been doing is not losing by many goals as they have only let in 41.

Addick fans will be wondering if owner Roland Duchatelet has made the right decisions with their Championship status at stake. But that will make for a loud atmosphere at the Valley I am sure and while Charlton may play with some fear at the back of their minds, AFCB will simply be looking to extend their unbeaten run and close the gap on the teams above them.
