Wilson will do fine this season

I know that some have had their concerns about Callum Wilson and his sudden inability to find the net. It is only a few games though where he has drawn a blank and for me it is more important that he is still getting chances, even if he is not able to pull the trigger successfully as often as we would all like. I am sure there are many teams that would like to have a striker who already had five goals this season. Callum is still getting to grips with his new team mates and I have no doubts that the best is still to come from him.

Count on Callum to hit the target again soon.

Watching him just during the warm up you can see that he is very business like with his desire to score goals. I like the fact that he is a little greedy and backs himself to score. AFCB need such a player and it is an element of his game that I hope he never loses. Against Leeds he had one of those opportunities when the ball seemed to get stuck under his foot again, and he looked odds on to beat the keeper up until the final moment when the keeper managed to swamp the ball. While it was a missed opportunity know one needs to heap more pressure on the lad, who is looking the sharpest of all the strikers at the club at the moment. I back him to score soon and when he does it will release any tensions he may have from previous disappointments in front of goal.

The best strikers simply let instinct take its course and don't think about the finish too much. Bang in a goal,  and all of a sudden the world of football appears a much easier game. I also believe Callum is the kind of player who will score braces and hat-tricks. Once he gets a head of steam up he worries defenders. The battle he had against Jason Pearce and Giuseppe Bellusci the other night will be about the hardest test he has in this division, because both of them were tenacious and dogged in their tackling - and fouling - I should mention! Wilson will get more protection than he did from referees on other days and that he did not react to the kind of intimidation he was facing was a good sign for me. 

Every game with Yann Kermorgant is also another 90 minutes with the two learning each others game, and Eddie Howe will find ways to make them more effective. Watch this space!
