Bottle is one thing Yann Kermorgant is not short of (video)

It was funny to see Eddie Howe comment that bottle and Yann Kermogant were never a problem and that the Frenchman had that in spades. Taking penalties is a pressure that you either like or hate and Yann was never going to let one penalty miss at Leeds hang over his season. Like all good penalty takers he wanted the next one and I had only one thought in mind, to see how the Steve Fletcher stand would react when he scored. Yann did not disappoint and the Steve Fletcher stand erupted.

For Yann to ask to be the penalty taker in mid-week is quite a strange request you would think having missed one not so long ago and with Yann not having been in the starting 11 against Leeds. But perhaps that was just it for him. He wanted to be told he would start the game and he wanted it made clear that he would take the penalty if there was one. His desire and commitment to the team has never been questioned by Eddie Howe or by the fans. We sing his name in delight and are very thankful for what Yann has already added to the team in the last two season, but it looks like it is part of Yann's character that he feels he needs to keep proving himself.

I don't know what he would have done if he had missed the spot kick, but he may have already been wondering if it would be his night having smacked a shot against Gomes' crossbar after one of the moves of the game in the first half. It is almost like AFCB can pass the ball so well at times that the opposition fall into a comma and are only able come out of that stupor after the Cherries have had 20 to 30 passes and a shot at goal. While Yann held his hands to his head after his crossbar near miss, he was clearly in the mood to play his part in this match and he'll benefit from the confidence he now how next time he wants to take a penalty.
