King and Wilson really need to break their duck

The first two matches for the Cherries have not brought the goals that fans hoped for after the early promise of pre-season. Eddie Howe has a major decision to make regarding what is the best strike partnership for the team going forward. It is not just the personnel that needs to be considered it is how much time they are given to click. In the background as well there is always the thought of AFCB going back into the market and buying another striker, but it might be better service to our current front two that will start bringing the rush of goals that the Cherries so desire.
Callum must keep making runs and believe he is going to to score - it will happen.
The first aim for the Cherries is to get at least one of the strikers regularly getting chances and having a go at goal. At the moment the team has kept the ball for portions of the game and has tried to stretch teams without really finding Wilson or King often enough in the kind of space that would enable them to get a shot away. Two shots on target all match in the last game at Liverpool is clear proof that the strikers are just not getting on the end of enough chances and this week the training will have surely looked at how AFCB can get King and Wilson more involved in the play.

I am hoping that Eddie sticks with his initial gut feeling if he believes King and Wilson are the best option for the team up front. By switching all the time between different players it won't help the team to get any confidence, but it is a hard decision as a run of a one or two games can soon become four or five and when we have seen Tomlin and Kermorgant on the pitch the team does not look anymore threatening - let's hope the luck changes soon.

Josh King needs plenty of service if he is to have a
good chance of getting on the score sheet.
The way the team played against Liverpool was much more pleasing though than the first game and if a cutting-edge can be found in front of goal there won't be so much to worry about. At the back the team looks solid and if they can start getting clean sheets it may be Wilson or King that just nick a goal soon or later so that the Cherries can get their campaign underway.

  1. I'd not seen King up until the Villa game, and the same as the Liverpool game, he's done nothing that shows me any promise. But that's not me saying he won't/can't be a great signing for us, Eddie obviously likes him, and that's always good enough for me, some players as we know, can take time to settle at a new club, some take longer than we'd like, but they're not machines, they're human after all.
So in fairness to Callum, he's getting little if any support from King, so it really is an uphill struggle for him. Saying that, had we taken our chances and had some decent decisions, we could easily have 6 points, so we're playing well enough over all, but that's the frustration. Which is why an experienced striker at this level is vital, and Austin for me, is the only one who fits the bill, and yes, I realise I'm in cloud cuckoo land!!
