Steve Sidwell rumour of interest with Arter problems

The Internet has been full of gossip and speculation about Steve Sidwell not being content at Stoke City and the former Fulham and Chelsea player has been strongly linked with a move to the Cherries. He would be a strong addition to the squad and would provide perfect cover for Harry Arter who is currently injured. The timing is probably right for Steve to consider his position having only made 13 appearances for the Potters since his move their in June last year. He is a player who could certainly hold his place in a team like the Cherries.

Harry Arter is the player we all want to see back playing.
The area of central midfield is certainly part of the AFCB team that does seem short of power when Arter is out and if the midfield is not able to get the service into King and Wilson the goals will be hard in coming as we have already seen. Sidwell has always shown a willingness to role up his sleeves and come up with a few goals, and while he is now 32 he does have the experience of top flight football that might not come at such a premium price for the Cherries if Stoke are considering letting him go out on loan if not on a permanent transfer.

The news earlier this week that Arter had suffered a setback in his recovery will have set signals out that the Cherries are likely to be looking for some additional cover as if Harry is out for another month it could be really damaging to the team's prospects. One player doesn't make a team but the way Harry plays in the team does give it an added dimension in my opinion. Sidwell was injured for much of last season and is now certainly down the pecking order at Stoke so it would not surprise me if AFCB were considering a bid for him - watch this space I guess.

  1. Totally agree with you, cherries really need some experience and depth in the midfield.
