Wilson is still a goal machine

Yep, Callum Wilson proved that he is no Championship only striker - he can do it in the Premier League as well. The speed and quickness of thought were back for Callum as he pounced on just about every chance he had in the game at west Ham, He created, finished and terrorised the hammers backline in what I felt was a complete centre forward's display that had power, pace and hot finishing.
Callum Wilson at Upton Park on Saturday.
It was the movement that really impressed though. he got across his man for the first goal so well with sheer desire to get to the ball first and the finish was explosive. Francis had not been getting forward as much in the first two games of the season but his and Daniel's runs gave Wilson the chance to feed off of crosses and the side looked much more like what we had all witnessed last season.

Wilson might have had more goals but he also created and made a super opportunity for Max Gradel to score before half time but sadly the former-St Etienne striker could not put the ball away. It still showed that Callum does provide for others and doesn't always take on another player when he can see someone is in a better position. The understanding is coming with Gradel for sure and the difficulty for Howe will be that he has seen that the Josh king partnership is probably not the greatest way to take the team forward.

Wth Pugh back in the side and Gradel playing behind Wilson, the team looks confident and functions with more direct threat on goal. It will be hard to rely on Wilson always getting the goals but the good news is that he has broken his duck and knows he can do as well at this level as he has in other leagues. Callum Wilson will now be much watched if he wasn't already.
