Yeah, okay it might be getting carried away to think of European football, but sitting just in 15th place in the table you can see how close it is now between the mid-placed teams and our beloved AFCB. Surprisingly, a top 10 finish is not our of the question as AFCB positioned themselves five points behind Watford after this week's matches.
A sizeable gap has started to open up underneath the Cherries now with most Villa fans acknowledging the inevitable now. The Cherries must look up the table though to what they could achieve. Eddie Howe says it is a question of trying to accumulate as many points as they can and as quickly as they can. But should the fixtures look anymore difficult than they really are in March and April? If AFCB can get some more wins against the mid-table sides, then safety could be accomplished sooner than expected. It is still early days, but I felt for the first time this week that the Cherries were making huge strides to becoming accustomed to the league that they are in.
There is just six points or two games between the Cherries and Southampton who are in seventh, so it really is a season when the Cherries could not only survive but thrive in the Premier League. It is interesting that as the club has started to move away from the bottom three there is slightly less attention being put on Eddie Howe and his team. One of the epic stories the media wants is a last day fight for survival, but hopefully the cameras will be not be concentrating on Old Trafford come 15 May.
