Callum is already loving being involved again

Callum at Villa Park.
Callum Wilson may have only just got on the minutes for 90 seconds or so on Saturday but he was just pleased to be back. It has been a long road back for him and I can understand that Edie Howe wants to take his recovery in games very carefully having been out such a long time.

That may mean that we see Callum spending much of his time on the bench before making some second half appearances. The crowd was urging Eddie to let him come on the pitch at the end of the Villa game, and it was good to see that he was able to spend a little while on the pitch having travelled with the team as a last minute replacement for Glenn Murray.

Now Callum will of course want to play. He won't get near his goal scoring target for the season but knowing him as a striker he will have targeted being top scorer and he could still do that for the club if he is allowed to play. I would say that Josh King and Lewis Grabban have done nothing wrong though and Callum will have to wait his chance even now.

With Callum on the pitch you know you have a goal scorer though who can get you something at any time during a game. AFCB have been seeing Josh King keep the goals going in for the strikers but he has led a lone furrow as they say of late. Knowing that Callum is available may of course raise the game of Grabban, King and Murray. Just having Callum available is a benefit.

Even Jason Tindall can't help celebrating Callum's return.
