Matt Ritchie said this week that the players want to go on and achieve great things for this club. They know that to do that they have to find ways of really competing with the very best sides in the country, and while there are only 12 clubs at the moment sitting higher in the Premier League there is a mental hurdle that the players and the fans will have to climb to believe that they can consistently take on the big names and beat them.
AFCB have had some good wins against a struggling Chelsea side earlier in the season and perhaps an under strength Man Utd at home, but they have not raised their game to such an extent to deal with an inform big hitter and they have another chance to do that this weekend. Liverpool played in the Europa League mid-week and some will say that the side they will bring to Dean Court won't be as strong as the side that went out against Borrussia Dortmund, but that should not diminish a win against Klopp's side that much in the eyes of the Cherries fans as Liverpool are a side that have been virtually the yard stick by which AFCB have been growing towards in cup competitions.
There is no doubt that Eddie Howe will have a dossier on Liverpool that is probably bigger than any other Premier League side after the recent meetings. Does that make them any easier to beat? I am not sure, but the Cherries have been getting closer to causing an upset. I am also encouraged in knowing that this is the first game between the sides that won't have live match coverage on the big TV networks. AFCB's player just have to worry about the players on the pitch lined up against them and they can concentrate on delivering their best game.
Liverpool are in form though. They hammered Stoke City at Anfield and they are looking to finish in the top six. They will exploit any sloppy play and will press AFCB in parts of the pitch that will be hazardous for our defenders. It's time for AFCB's players to try and control their game and to push themselves to even greater heights. UTCIAD!
