Have AFCB bought well enough this summer?

With the transfer window now closed until January and only loan options still available it is arguable that AFCB might have bought in plenty of players, but have they been the right ones? I ask that not because of saying there are surely other targets they might have gone for that would have been a good fit, but if the squad is to do better this second season in the Premier League, the players coming in must be a step up. Transfer deadline day really changed things in my opinion, as Jack Wilshere is by far the biggest signing that AFCB has made in recent seasons, but is it enough?

The Wilshere signing may well change around AFCB's prospects with the pundits. Still, so far from the three Premier League matches that have gone, only Jordan Ibe of the new signings has featured in all three games. That is a bit disappointing considering the amount of money that has been spent, although you could say that Eddie Howe is being loyal to those who kept the team up last season. There comes a time though when you have to consider are the new players only back up or should they be worthy of starts? I'd hope that more of the new players would be vying for starting places and Lewis Cook is perhaps the only one that looks close to being in that position, while Nathan Aké is being used maybe also too sparingly.
Of the summer signings, more players need to break into the first team and join Jordan Ibe.
Injuries aside, I think the fans are looking to see the player's up their game in their next match and if that means introducing new faces from the squad, I wouldn't be disturbed by that. There is a case for saying that Junior Stanislas was one of the players that kick started last season and it would be great to see him gunning for a start, while I expect to see more from Afobe and Mousset in pushing their case for more minutes on the pitch.

Like last season with loan signing, Juan Iturbe, the pace at which Lys Mousset can get acquainted to his team-mates and the English league is perhaps slower than the fans might have hoped for. It's not been easy for Emerson Hyndman with his injury either, while Brad Smith seems to have transferred from Liverpool's bench to AFCB's bench. Marc Wilson is also probably working towards a position on the bench and League Cup games.

So are we seeing just one or two summer signing making the grade so far? I'd argue that is not enough and that the existing players must be challenged harder if AFCB are to improve. Too much potential perhaps and not enough quality? Until the Jack Wilshere signing I probably would have been leaning on the side of being light on experience, but as long as Wilshere gets regular games, the Cherries look a much stronger outfit this season now. UTCIAD!
