Tyrone Ming's long wait to play could finally be over

Reading the disciplinary record of the AFC Bournemouth team I noticed that Adam Smith picked up his fifth yellow card, when he took down Anichebe in the last match against Sunderland. He will be suspended for a match and so looks set to miss the Stoke City game. That will mean some reorganisation among AFCB's defence and Simon Francis is probably the obvious choice to come in and play at right back.

Tyrone Mings could make his first start of the season on Saturday.

That of course leaves a hole in central defence and Eddie Howe is probably thinking of putting Tyrone Mings or Nathan Aké into the starting line up. I say that presuming that Marc Wilson is still injured and not able to be selected. It is hard to know who Eddie Howe favours as best cover in central defence when all we have seen all season is Steve Cook and Simon Francis, but a change at the back may even be something that helps liven the team up a little having conceded four goals in their last two games.

As for Tyrone Mings, it would be a big moment for the former Ipswich man. While we have seen him warming up as a sub for the last few weeks he has not really had any time on the pitch, and it is a big ask to bring him in just now in a Premier League match in the heart of defence instead of at left back. Still, I believe Eddie would favour him over playing Nathan who is on loan at AFCB. It would be handy to have a look at training this week to see who is standing next to Steve Cook all the time. Another option would be to move Charlie Daniels inside I suppose and allow Mings to play on the left, but it really would be a decision about who feels most comfortable playing a different role for the team.

I am hopeful that it is Mings that gets to play, as I see him as a player who has a tremendous amount of potential. He could become a very significant defender for the club over the next few years. He has great physical attributes with his height and speed and if he can add a reading of the game to that, I can see him being hard to leave out of an AFCB side when he gets a few games.
