Callum Wilson has the character to get back to his best

The Bournemouth Echo gave a clear indication that Callum Wilson still has some way to go before he can challenge for a place in the team again. I'm hopeful that Wilson will make a full recovery, and although he will have to find his limits again, having had two serious injuries in the last two seasons, I trust that everyone at the club is encouraging him that he can comeback and still be the striker that we all know him for.

Callum Wilson looks on at AFCB players at Dean Court.
Injuries take their toll and Callum may find there is somethings he can't do quite as well, but as long as his rehabilitation is well-managed, the medical science these days that the club can call on is amazing.

Eddie Howe does advise caution though with Wilson's return. "Callum is making good progress but is nowhere near training with the rest of the group yet," said Howe.

There has been no date set on when Wilson will start training fully with the first team, but perhaps the international break which comes early in the season may give Wilson some incentive to try and be more involved then – at least in some training. The longer he has to wait into the season, the more he may question how well his rehabilitation is going, but it's even more important that he doesn't rush his return.

I'm sure the fans will be patient with Wilson knowing what he has been through, and he will receive a standing ovation I hope when he does run out for the team again. Mentality wise, I think Wilson is one of the toughest and most determined of the Bournemouth players. He has recovered before from a cruciate ligament injury, and he knows that he was getting back to his best last season when he got injured again. As long as he keeps that strength of character, Wilson will get there. UTCIAD!

In other news, striker Sam Surridge signs a season-long loan for Yeovil Town.
