Cook magic wins the day

Bournemouth have made a habit of getting some late winners in Premier League games over recent seasons and they don't come much more dramatic than coring in injury time. Steve Cook's late headed winner at Newcastle has to rank as one of the most pleasing just because of the situation in the league and how important the three points could be.
Short haired, but plenty of strength in Steve Cook's headers!
Out of all the players on the pitch, I suppose Steve Cook would not have been in the top four or five expected players to come up with a winner. Yet, he has a talent for making something special happen when the chips are down, and I'm sure it is his inner drive of being a defender who is really has a frustrated striker ambition still lurking with in him, perhaps from his school boy days, that helps him believe he is going to score.

The jump at the corner needed to have great spring as Cook had to out jump both Perez and Clark, and he actually managed to get over the top and in between them. There was still Rob Elliot and Dwight Gayle on the line as well and yet the power Cook generated with leaving his leap late made the header unstoppable. What really made it special though was the incident before when Pugh had seen his effort somehow kept out. It was a massive disappointment and then to see Cook score just made us all overjoyed. It was also good to see Eddie Howe raise a smile again - that's what we want.

Steve Cook not only gave us all a double arms up salute, but he even gave us the cheeky tongue out expression which just underlined how much of a relief it was for AFCB to have scored. All the players looked really appreciative of the travelling fans and they all ran towards the Leazes stand and looked up to the supporters with great expressions. It reinforced how much we are all together in this fight and how much a win means to us all. Of course, Steve Cook will wonder why he isn't being given a striker's spot next game, but I have a feeling he'll be starting the game against Huddersfield and will have his eye on doing it again.
