Leicester win was just what Bournemouth needed

Come on, own up. How long have you been looking at that Premier League table for this weekend? It makes great reading, doesn't it? The international break had left a big hole in the football schedule for the Premier League and it felt more like a month ago that Bournemouth were beaten by Chelsea, rather than a couple of weeks. The Cherries hate going into those breaks on the back of defeats, and it was vital that they came back with the attention to attack Leicester City to keep their good league start going.
A second home win - more points on the board.
It was the basics that made me smile about the win against Leicester. Bournemouth were less wasteful with their chances, thanks mainly to Ryan Fraser. Howe needs to wrap Fraser on cotton wool. The defence only let Jamie Vardy get away one or two times. and even then he couldn't beat Asmir Begovic. Those were big moments for Bournemouth in being able to get a result.

Eddie Howe was clear that Bournemouth had not had it their own way. If the last final whistle had gone on 87 minutes, Howe would have probably been more generous with this thoughts on the game. But there is still work for the defence to do better. I also didn't see as much from Brooks on the right as in other games and Diego Rico will be pondering whether he could have done better with the penalty he gave away.

So there are a few team negatives. Bournemouth's game management kind of failed in the last few minutes of the match. Against 10-men they did score one goal, but Leicester were the dominant side in the second half and being 3-0 up at half time shouldn't mean Bournemouth just lay back and stop what they have been doing well to get them such a lead.

The overriding positive though is three more points. Fifth in the league is superb after five games and Bournemouth are looking a more powerful team than in previous Premier League seasons. Back-to-back wins are now what the team has to produce, if they want to get away from some of the mid-placed teams. With only four away wins last season, Bournemouth won't find that easy. But they have the perfect start. after the international break, to look forward to the next game rather than fear it.
