Bournemouth may yet rue having a small squad. The pre-match news against Newcastle United was bad enough with Josh King and Junior Stanislas unable to take part in the match, but to lose Adam Smith and Jefferson Lerma as well is going to need some reorganisation at a time in the season when Bournemouth have to take on some of their toughest games.
When Adam Smith was injured the team was already up against it, being a goal down and unable to mount any pressure on Newcastle's goal. But nobody could have predicted that Jefferson Lerma would also hurt himself when scoring Bournemouth's goal. Eddie Howe mentioned how this game of football can be cruel and can change very quickly. It is almost as if he knew that Bournemouth's good fortune would not last.
Now Bournemouth have to rebuild with a team similar to that which battled on in the second half against Newcastle. But the swagger that we have seen against Fulham and Man United might be much harder to find against Arsenal and Man City. It is the injuries that have made AFCB's chances much tougher and if Howe comes up with a game plan to get points in these next two games it will be more of an accomplishment than winning so many points in the first 10 games.
