The morale of AFCB has taken a bit of a knocking in recent weeks. The performance in midweek has lifted some of that behind, and to see Tyrone Mings ready to play again is the kind of news that will help others trying to get back into a position where they can be available to play again.
Sadly we haven't had positive news about Simon Francis yet, but the defence was fairly secure against Chelsea and we could see an opportunity for someone else who impressed during midweek. Playing three at the back may well be almost forced on Howe if Francis is not ready to come back as the right back yet, but with an extra man in midfield AFCB have been positive in pushing forward.
Brighton, of course, did not play in midweek and have some advantage in perhaps being a bit more rested for this game. Their away form though has been a little indifferent and their record at Dean Court is not so great. But Brighton have climbed into 13th place in the table and are just two points behind AFCB now, while AFCB's home form has only seen one win in the last five matches. A draw might be a sensible prediction, but AFCB have not been scored in their past three games and they will need to find some kind of cutting-edge against Brighton I suspect to get something from the game, because clean sheets have totally dried up.
It's the frame of mind of the players that is the key to seeing AFCB get back to winning ways. Some of the attacking play hasn't quite been coming off, but it will click again and when it does AFCB are going to take a team apart. With the home fans fully behind the team, we can all do our bit to help the team get the Christmas period off to a good start.
This game is important not only for the league but as a precursor to the FA Cup tie in January. There is a chance to get a psychological advantage in this first game and Bournemouth need the points to keep ahead of Brighton in the table.
