Not many Bournemouth fans would have had Tyrone Mings in their starting line up. It was his first Premier League start this season, and he must have been over joyed to get out on the pitch and do what he is best at. As an out and out defender, Tyrone is calm and very attentive when he has a job to do and marking Raheem Sterling was going to be a stiff challenge.
The game against Man City was a special game. It is like none other in the Premier League and Bournemouth will not be expected to set up so defensively against Huddersfield. Mings probably assumes it will be last in first out for the next game, which is a shame for him. He did everything that could have been expected of him against Man City, but he can expect to be on the bench for the midweek match. He may get another chance against Liverpool and I hope he does, as he adds height and determination to win the ball which I like to see.

For the most part it wasn't Sterling who was causing Bournemouth the major problems. Tryon kept him quiet until the second half when the ball just fell to Sterling in front of goal. Mings was stretched at times and had to use his long legs to slip in the tackles at the last moment, but he did it and judged the timing of those challenges really well. Alongside Steve Cook and Nathan Aké, Mings was perfectly at home, and while you can say look at the score, Tyrone did well to stop a lot of shots that could have tested Begovic further.

Barring an injury to Steve Cook or Nathan Aké, the route to keeping a starting place is incredibly hard for Mings. I felt he had a better game than Simon Francis, but I don't think that will hep Mings. Steve Cook had one of his best games against Man City and Nathan Aké was assured. So it may be that we only have a fleeting glimpse of Tyrone, but if he can play like he did against City, then he he deserves some games against more Premier Leagues and his talent doesn't really deserve to be restricted to just the cup games in my opinion.
