Dominic Solanke is a big signing for AFCB

It is not often that England U21 signings come up for transfers and for AFCB to land Dominic Solanke from Liverpool is a sign that AFCB are looking very closely at players that have high-athleticism and an ability to potentially play full international football.

Solanke's chances of playing for Liverpool were limited with time, restricted behind Daniels Sturridge and Divik Origi, but he may well be given a good opportunity to make the grade at AFCB. I expect it means that Defoe will be able to go out on loan and there is little value in having Defoe on the bench if he is not going to be used.

Solanki will be eager to impress and it will be good to see how he does against Lys Mousset for the first sub position at first. While Wilson and King have been prone to injuries, it is a good find to secure Solanke who is another fast running striker with an eye for goal.

The signing of Nathaniel Clyne from Liverpool on loan in this window is perhaps even more important and it will be a good help to Solanke to have a former team-mate to start his journey at AFCB.

Premier TalkA missed opportunity for Liverpool?
