Is Jack Simpson being under used?

Okay, how many of you can put your hands up and say they had Jack Simpson in the starting 11 against Man City? It seems strange that Howe will play Simpson against probably the best team in the country, but then doesn't give him an outing against any other Premier League team.
Only the best team for Jack Simpson to get his boots dirty.
Jack is clearly a very accomplished young defender. He could easily have been playing his football in Scotland or in the Championship this second half of the season, but Howe decided to keep him in-house and against City I thought he was excellent in parts and deserves much credit for the way he played.

At the end of the first half, Simpson was quick to hold of John Stones as he came in on the corner to try and run the ball past Boruc from close range. Simpson has a good sense for when there is danger and he reacts well. Why he is not a more permanent feature in this Bournemouth side is a question that Howe might have to start considering soon or other teams will come calling.

The only time when I think Simpson really had his heart in his mouth was when Vincent Kompany powered a big header over Simpson and the best Jack could do was get a backward glance on the ball in his attempt to find Boruc. Sterling had swept in and got the wrong side of Simpson, but Bournemouth's keeper came to Simpson's aid.

Simpson has time to plot his career path, but he is good enough to be playing every week in my book. I'd like to see Howe give Simpson more of a go because he has the calmness and honest work rate to do well. Signing Chris Mepham puts a real question mark over how highly AFCB value Simpson, and if he is to stay at the club then he deserves more than one guest appearance in the Premier League each season.
