While Bournemouth looked comfortable at finishing as the highest southern club a few weeks ago, it is very likely that they will face a battle to be top of the pack come mid-May. Bournemouth still have to play Crystal Palace, Brighton and Southampton. so the points are there to be won, but defeats in some of these games could open the door for one or more of the southern rivals to push ahead of AFCB.
We know how much Southampton would love to finish ahead of Bournemouth and some AFCB fans might be wondering how wise they were to buy tickets for the St Mary's match now. Rather than gloating about Southampton's position, it could be AFCB that are looking over their shoulders by the time we get to the end of April.
Rather than dreaming about seventh, which has surely now gone, AFCB need to concentrate on not slipping any further down the league table.

Looking at the current form of the teams in the south, you'd have to say that Southampton are the form team with their impressive results against Brighton, Spurs and Fulham of late. Brighton are slipping in the other direction, while Crystal Palace sit just two points behind the Cherries.

Bournemouth need to pick up points quickly just to switch the momentum at the moment. The form of the Cherries would be relegation form at any other time in the season, but they have built up a cushion that is steadily being eaten into by the other clubs from the south.
