What is the future for Diego Rico and Brad Smith at AFCB?

Having heard this last week that Lloyd Kelly has been signed for the Cherries as a left-back/centre-half, it is likely that two of Bournemouth's former signings will be pushed further down the pecking order. Brad Smith has been spending a season in the MLS with Seattle Sounders FC, while Diego Rico has made 12 appearances in his first Premier League season.
Brad Smith may find it tempting to stay in the MLS.
Diego Rico hasn't made a big impact yet.
Eddie Howe has been quoted as saying that Diego Rico has had "a few hurdles" to overcome but believes he can become a regular player for AFCB. What he needs is a run of games, but he is going to be under more pressure with the arrival of Lloyd Kelly.

Whether Brad Smith sees his future at AFCB is less certain. Having had so much time out on loan in the MLS, it is likely that AFCB would consider offers on the player who also found it hard to get any number of games at Bournemouth. The search for a consistent left-back who can share the work load with Charlie Daniels has been a problem since AFCB got to the Premier League. We can add Tyrone Mings to the players who could have taken that spot, but Eddie Howe has not been able to find any of the options as safe cover.

Lloyd Kelly has made no secret of the fact that he sees his long term playing position as a centre-back, which gives me the impression that Rico is going to be continually encouraged to try and make the grade at left-back. But Kelly could well be tried first in that position now.
