King has new incentive to reach his peak

I read the story on the AFCB website about Josh King looking to do better next season having netted double figures in 2018/19. It is said that he used to play for himself, but now plays for his son Noah as an extra incentive to do well, but at 27 Josh King knows he probably only has one big move left and that he needs a magical season at AFCB to really get everyone talking about him again.
Josh King is still searching for that 20-goal season.

This last season, Josh King will have been pleased to have seen off the likes of Jermain Defoe for his starting place and Lys Mousset. He now has a new challenge with Dominic Solanke trying to ease him out of a starting role, and while Kings' experience should put him in a good position to retain his partnership with Callum Wilson next season, there is an elephant in the room which keeps raising its head about how many goals should Josh King be getting now?

While a total of 12 Premier League goals was no bad effort, King thrived when the team were in their first Premier League season and he had the weight of the team to carry the goal effort when the likes of Callum Wilson and Max Gradel were unavailable. His role is seen more as a striker than a winger these days and from the penalty spot, Josh has a very good record. But in open play it is questionable why he has not been able to benefit as much as Callum from the supply of Ryan Fraser in particular.

When Callum was out for the home match against Chelsea, King again proved that he can be a handful for the very best teams in the league. He takes on the responsibility. But why can't Eddie Howe get that out of him when Callum plays? What we need is a consistent Josh King.

This summer we are not hearing much gossip connected with Josh King. He hasn't set the Premier League alight in 2018-19, but Howe must try and get King to to have that burning desire to be competing with other strikers who are gunning for the most goals in the Premier League. Getting nearer a target of 20-goals is what King needs to focus on.
