Can Bournemouth open the gap up on Southampton?

It should be a good atmosphere on Friday night for the match with Southampton. They have picked up the same amount of points as the Cherries from their first six games, and the winner of this match will feel that it will be three very significant points towards what half of the table they finish in. While Southampton have been slow starters for the last couple of seasons, they have got their act together and Bournemouth won't find it a stroll at St Marys.
Southampton: are hey a better team than last season?
Southampton will play with a lot of desire to get one over the Cherries having not yet won at home this season. They were very strong against Man United to get a draw with them at St Marys, and AFCB have to keep up their performance as high as it as against Everton. Southampton's home defeat came against Liverpool, but they were well in that game having only one less shot than Klopp's side.

Moussa Djenepo is the club's top scorer on two at the moment but Southampton will pose a threat at corners and free kicks with Jannik Vestergaard as Man Utd found out. Danny Ings, who signed for Southampton from Liverpool, has also netted, but it was rather a gift given by Liverpool keeper Adrian. Nathan Redmond has also netted against Brighton, but was injured in the Carabao Cup. Moussa Djenepo, who signed from Standard Liege this summer for £15m scored in that game against Fulham which Southampton won 0-1.

Other signings for Southampton in the summer included striker Che Adams from Birmingham City and keeper Tommy Scott from Yeovil Town.

The Saints have scored just five league goals and have let in six, so there is a case to say that their striking power is perhaps weaker than Bournemouth's who have scored eight, but in defence Bournemouth have let in nine goals from their first six games. It is surprising Shane Long hasn't started more games, but he might be kept back for this game, while Boufal and Ward-Prowse have been players that have given the Cherries problems in the past. It's going to be a tight game but it's a brave predictor that would see a clean sheet in this game.
