Bournemouth make loan bid for Tottenham defender

The Daily Telegraph has reported that AFCB is after Tottenham defender, and US international player, Cameron Carter-Vickers, 22. Cameron is a central defender that Bournemouth is looking at to replace Nathan Aké. He could form a partnership with Steve Cook going forward or Chris Mepham, but it is probably bad news for Jack Simpson who will be bumped down the list, while Lloyd Kelly may have to revert to a left-back role if he is to stay at the Cherries.
Steve Cook could soon have a new centre-back partner.
Tottenham's Vitals website suggests Carter-Vickers' transfer valuation was around £4m in January 2020, but having had a loan period with Luton most recently, he has not stirred interest from Championship clubs, and his transfer fee has been lowered to more like £2.5m, reports Football Insider. The wages seem to have been a problem for Luton Town taking the player.

A loan move by Bournemouth may indicate that the Cherries are looking to hold on to any cash they can in their attempt to climb back to the Premier League and may indicate that they are looking to adapt to new budget constraints. A fee of £2.5-4m is easily within the Cherries' compass, but perhaps Bournemouth only expects to pick up a central defender for one season before looking to making a more permanent signing.

At least Bournemouth is finally showing some interest in players. The defence has been the weakest part of the team and Carter-Vickers has plenty of Championship experience having played on loan for Sheffield Utd, Ipswich Town, Swansea City, Stoke City and Luton Town.

I'd gotten rather used to seeing Lloyd Kelly play as the stand-in centre-half, but this may mean that Bournemouth is expecting to lose Lloyd as well, which would be a pity. It could also mean that Jack Simpson might become available for a loan move this coming season of Bournemouth are successful in the bid to attract Carter-Vickers to the club.

In other new, The Daily Express reports that AFCB Stoke striker Tyrese Campbell and have has a £2m bid for Ipswich striker Kayden Jackson rejected. Meanwhile Aston Villa are lining up a bid for Josh King and Leicester are looking to make a bid for David Brooks.
