Brett Pitman keeps his nerve

There was an important moment in the Blackpool and AFCB game where Blackpool scored and for a moment had brought the scores back to 1-3. In such an instant it could have been the catalyst for a Blackpool resurgence but the foul on Callum Wilson, only a minute later, when racing into Blackpool's box gave Bournemouth the chance to effectively kill the game.
Brett Pitman is upping his game.
Up stepped Brett Pitman as Yann Kermorgant, the designated penalty taker, was still off the pitch at the time. AFCB have missed their fair share of penalty kicks and even when Bournemouth were winning a game like this it must have been at the back of Brett's mind that a miss would not help his hopes to get a continued run in the team. The fact that he struck the penalty so well in the top corner was down to his confidence and technique, but to have to take a second kick because of encroachment must have rattled him more than a little, even though he put away his second attempt with no less confidence.

Brett has been one of the players that AFCB fans have not been so sure about to start games, but Eddie has stuck with him and that confidence in Brett is giving the player an added boost. It would be easy to shy away and not volunteer to take the penalty especially when Matt Ritchie was on a hat-trick, but Brett wants to do his bit for the team and his successful convention from the spot was important for him as well as the team.

The only thing that was disappointing about Brett's performance was his yellow card for punching the ball as he tried to score a goal earlier on. It's not the way AFCB players want to be known for and I am sure Brett will cut that out of his game. I bet his heart sank for a moment when he handled the ball in the second half and gave away a free kick again - luckily he did not get another yellow and a sending off.
