Brentford game should re-energise AFCB players

The disappointment of the Huddersfield result can soon be forgotten if AFCB can go to Griffin Park and get a big result against one of their closest rivals. There will be a lot of excitement and tension for this match and AFCB tend to play better when there is more at stake and the tempo of the game is helped by an opponent who is also gong full out for a win.

This match will be not have to see AFCB making all the play and the players will now that they have to again be at their very best against a side that has been hurting other teams in this league. The atmosphere will be terrific and the volume button is likely to be off the scale, but such a match is great to win and very destructive to lose. After AFCB's recent run at home they need something to recharge the batteries.

Brentford will not be an easy game but a win would
really inject some power into AFCB's promotion push.

Brentford have not been having the best of runs themselves having slipped out of the top six last weekend for the first time since November, following their 3-0 defeat at Charlton Athletic. They will be looking for a response at home having also dropped points against Watford and Middlesbrough at Griffin Park in recent weeks. Brentford's season could be unravelling at just the time when they would have hoped they would be getting stronger and knowing that Mark Warburton will be replaced in the summer will not have created calm in the minds of players - just a whole load more questions. Even if the manager says he is fully concentrating on the job at hand it's not going to be easy for everyone on Saturday. It could really help them out or it could turn nasty for the Bees if things don't go their way.

For AFCB there is also a need to get results now as they can see their time at the top slipping away and only a win will halt the trend. It's a repair job for the Cherries and while the Bees will be a hard opponent, the Cherries have to find a better rhythm and more of a cutting edge to their game as going stale at this stage of proceedings is likely to cost them dear.

For Bournemouth fans coming down, you are probably aware there plenty of pub options pre-match and all are most welcoming - something that we found most disappointing about our trip to Bournemouth.


As is etched in common folklore, there are four pubs around the ground. The Griffin is closest to the away end (like 30 secs walk) and is very popular with away fans - but also very very busy. The New Inn is on the other side is also popular with away fans. The Princess Royal and The Royal Oak (sometimes home fans only. The only pub with bouncers on the door in Brentford) are the other two options.

Other pubs slightly further afield for the more creative amongst you include (and this is by no means a definitive list) the … The Globe (Windmill Rd) & The Lord Nelson (Enfield Rd) - both incredibly friendly and cozy away-friendly pubs .. frequented by 'away fans in the know'. Boro fans and Bees fans had one hell of a party before and after the match in these boozers (despite us losing) - and The Plough (Northfields Ave) in Northfields is a decent stop-off if you are coming by tube to Northfields before making your way down to the ground (normally stopping off at The Globe and Lord Nelson en route).

There is also a pub right by Brentford station always referred to as ... the Pub by Brentford station. I guess many Muff fans will use that.

For ale head to the Magpie and Crown pub on Brentford High Street. The Royal Horseguardsman can probably hold 15 of you at a push. The Brewery Tap is a cosy boozer by the river. And if you are super adventurous, get off at Kew Bridge and visit the brand new boozer One Over the Ait right on the river - beside the bridge. There are loads more too.

A quick google search and you’ll find them all. There are many many more too if you have a look around. Parking is pretty easy away from the ground going up towards and over the A4 Great West Rd (ie. North) via Ealing Rd or Windmill Rd.
