Penalty saves are all in the line of duty for Boruc

Artur Boruc had a day to remember up at the King Power stadium on Saturday. His actions will help the team spirit and give plenty of hope to what can be achieved in the second half of the season. While a point has not done much for the Cherries' league position, it is the character of the players to hold on to draw away from home with 10-men that will give them an extra spring in their step this week.

It was maybe surprising that when the penalty was given that Riyad Mahrez stepped up to take it rather than Jamie Vardy.  Vardy had taken the penalty when he was taken down at the Vitality stadium and yet he did not race for the ball on this occasion. Jamie has had a virus and so penalty duties had perhaps been passed to Mahrez anyway, but Boruc decided to go to the same side as when Vardy scored against him a few months ago for Mahrez' penalty. It did come at a good height off the ground and Mahrez will have to live with that failure to score now.

The edge may just be coming off Leicester's impressive start to the season. Two draws against them perhaps shows Premier League followers of just what the Cherries can achieve in this division on their day. Solid goalkeeping performances are needed though and in recent matches Artur Boruc has proved why he had been such a good signing for the Cherries.

Artur may be calm on the pitch and give the impression that nothing bothers him but he needs to feel invincible and games like this will restore a lot of his confidence. Everyone is fighting so hard for the points that there is real reason to believe that the Cherries can stay up.

The team has not had a great deal of luck but perhaps they are starting to get some payback after some points that escaped them in the first half of the season. Another clean sheet is a great way to start off 2016 and Artur Boruc deserves much praise for doing his homework and staying confident with strong hands when he needed them for the penalty save.

Transfer watch
AFCB continue to be linked with Leeds Utd's Lewis Cook who is an England U19 international defender - perhaps Baily Cargill has been encouraging him to come to the Cherries. If AFCB sign a youngster like this though he needs to play, as does Cargill.
