I was more than a little pleased that Ryan Fraser was selected to start on Sunday against Southampton. We have been wondering when the Wee-man would get his go, and he has clearly been frustrated at not getting as many games as he would have liked.
While Eddie made changes to the starting line up, the wingers were perhaps the most important changes in that new line up. Stanislas and Fraser I have put down as the top picks in a Bournemouth line up on the wings if everyone is fit and available for selection. Fraser has come a long way and seems very adept at learning and taking on information to make himself a better player. He is of course still young, but his pursuit of playing better is reaching the level where it is his performance in front of goal that is now pretty much the only part of his game where Eddie Howe sees more to come.
The manager remarked recently that he was our potential Eden Hazard. It is a high status claim and Ryan needs to get a few more goals before taking that accolade, but you kind of know that Ryan will strive to obtain that kind of title if it is there for him. He is as Eddie Howe has also said a very honest young man and I think that is also what is endearing about him to the fans. Many of us will have a little brother who is like Ryan Fraser in his will to do well and I hope that spark never dies out in him as it is what encourages many of us to come to Dean Court every week there is a game.

The opportunity came against the Saints though for him to prove that he should be in the side regularly and he did not hold back. I was not that worried when the ball was shifted across from the right to the left for Fraser's moment to score. Andrew Surman was quick to send the ball on to Fraser knowing that he was the extra man outside him and Ryan was controlled in the manner in which he took the ball and then selected his spot to put the ball past Forster. We know that Ryan has that finishing ability, and while it was his first goal of the season I don't see why the wee man can't get closer to 10 goals in a season if he can hold down his place.
