AFCB expected to chase hard for Welsh midfielder's signature

Sheffield United are expected to put up stiff resistance to interest from the Cherries for their Welsh midfielder David Brooks. Brooks is just 20 and has made three senior Welsh team appearances already in his career and was a junior at Man City's football academy. The Star has suggested that, through an intermediary, AFCB are willing to pay £10m to bring the player to the south coast.
Eddie Howe is keen on Sheffield United midfielder.
The fee would seem a reasonable price for an international player who has been a good performer in the Championship but has not yet played in the Premier League. The Star says that AFCB are not the only interested party from the Premier League and that could mean that a first offer may not be successful in this instance. The other team said to be looking at the youngster are Spurs, which suggests how highly the midfielder is regarded.

Picking players from the Championship is not a guarantee of success though. Eddie Howe will need to know if Brooks is capable of challenging for a place in the starting 11. He believed Emerson Hyndman would be such a buy, but Emerson has shown how difficult it is to make an impression, despite having played well for Rangers last season. Dan Gosling and Lewis Cook may well start as favourites to be in central midfield at the start of next season. Brooks would be another player though to see how well Lewis Cook has done at AFCB and just might fancy a taste of working with Eddie Howe.

While AFCB have not made any signings this summer to date, it looks like they are committed to bringing young talent to the club and that they may have to spend over £10m several times this summer to bring players in to bolster the team.

Meanwhile, WBA have made a £7m bid for suggested AFCB target Bobby Reid at Bristol City according to Sky Sports.
