Surman is right on target

Andrew Surman was keen to come back to the Cherries in the September window. He could see that this was a team that could progress further and he has come back with a real ambition to perform at the top of his game. He certainly seems to be the player that knits the team together in the last third and he has found a finishing streak that he had the very first time he came on loan to the Cherries.

Surman is not holding back this season.

Out of all the players in the team though it was perhaps surprising that Surman was the one sprinting up the field to keep up with Callum Wilson for the first goal at Sheffield Wednesday. I hope that he continues to show that confidence to get up in support and to slot away his chances. Eddie Howe mentioned that it was no easy finish and that being clinical is what the team needed to work on to climb the table.

Surman was interviewed earlier this week and mentioned how this team did not fear any other team in the Championship. It is perhaps an omission that in the past Bournemouth has seen itself as a small team against some of the Midland giants that have great histories and records, but this AFCB team is here and now and making its own records. For Surman to leave Norwich City and to want to come back to the club gives a clear belief from him that the south coast is where it is going to be best to be this season and the group of players that Eddie Howe has now assembled is showing that it can be a team that challenges for the Championship title.
