I thought some of the criticism of Josh King was unfair, after late minute chance against Newcastle United. I am sure that King would have wanted to score. The angle from the flick on from Aké did not look as favourable as some fans might have though, and the ball was travelling at speed.
Of course, we wanted Josh to stick the chance away. If he had come out with it with a broken nose or a bump on his head and stills cored he would have been a big hero. But I don't believe a player has time to always think, gosh here is a chance- hang on, if I go for this I could get hurt! The speed of the game is too quick. If King thought he could get to the ball better, I'm sure he would have lunged at with more intent.
I wonder if the criticism of Josh would not have been so strong had he not done so well in the previous week. The British love praising people one week and knocking them down the next. It is more important to back them when things don't work out as we'd hoped. Creating a positive bubble around players pays off in the end and the negativity is I hope something that AFCB fans don't dwell on too long, as we have some great players that are capable of amazing things.
As a fan we all want our team to win. The players probably feel the pressure more than anyone in representing the club. No one wants to let their fans down and Josh King was not responsible for the cherries going 2-1 down in the game. Looking at the bigger picture, we should be asking why did it take to the last minute of added time to finally get a half chance to level the scores?
