Is Afobe capable of scoring consistently for AFCB?

Benik Afobe has been at the club for a couple of seasons now and while his game has been worked on since he has come to the club, he has to challenge himself to become a more prolific striker if he is going to push his way into AFCB's starting line up more often. It is a hard prospect to see him ousting Jermain Defoe and Josh King, but there will be times when he or Callum Wilson or Lys Mousset will be required this season and the Tottenham game looks like one of those opportunities.
Benik has not made the grade yet at AFCB but can he make
the most of a start if he gets it against Spurs?
By scoring a hat-trick against Norwich City's team in the Premier League Cup, Benik is keeping his name in the frame. But it is one thing scoring against a team that is mainly fitted out with U21s and another to beat some of the world's top players. What must frustrate Benik though is that he can only get a few minutes in the Premier League at a time, and how can you become a prolific striker when you are getting just bit-part appearances?

I would hope that he has been putting in extra effort in training sessions and showing willingness to become the best. He has some superb talent around him now in Jermain Defoe being at the club and rather than seeing him as a player barring him from getting in the starting line up, perhaps he should look and see what Jermain can impart to him from his knowledge of the game. It's not just club football that Jermain can share his experiences about, but also the international game and how he himself will have found times when he has not been able to get starts. Every player deals with such problems in their own way, but I think the team needs to talk a lot at the moment and get their frustrations out of they are to work together to pick the league position up.

Fans will not be disappointed if Benik can challenge his energy into great performances when he does get the green light to play, but he has found it difficult to show the very early form he had when he first came to the club. It was exciting and new for Benik then. I'd hope that he still finds it refreshing to play for AFCB, but he should want more than that. He should aim not only to be the best striker at the club but also to be one of the best in the Premier League. That is the kind of aspiration he now needs if he is to transform his credentials in front of the manager.

Benik has had chances to make his name in the side, but has he really been confident enough to believe he is the best striker on the pitch? He needs to find something - a bit of arrogance, a bit of pride or may be even selfishness in front of goal. I hope he finds what he needs to give him that edge that the best strikers seem to posses.
