Is Dan Gosling under valued at AFCB?

Dan Gosling had a busier season than usual in 2018/19. The injury to Lewis Cook ensured that he would be given a chance to get a regular spot in the team but for the early matches it was Andrew Surman who was pipping him to some starts. But as the season developed, I felt Dan started to look much more comfortable in the team by the last few game she was suddenly popping up with important goals.
Dan Gosling is perhaps more important to AFCB than he is given credit for.

I am sure the fans appreciate Gosling for his running and non-stop effort during games, but he has been a bit of an unsung hero. Everyone is satisfied that Gosling will work hard, but he does more than that by breaking up play and finding the energy to join attacks which is something very few of AFCB's central midfielders have found easy to do consistently.

While Gosling has more experience than most AFCB players of having games in the Premier League, having had spells at Everton and Newcastle United earlier in his career, AFCB have benefited from his ability to mix it with some of the Premier League's best central midfielders. He is an honest player and I think that's what appeals most about Gosling. He'll take a booking if the team needs someone to stop an  attack and he'll do the less glamorous stuff if AFCB need a player just to hold station.

While Gosling doesn't get singled out by the opposition that much as a player that is going to be a problem for them, I think that is sometimes his strength. He goes unnoticed until it is too late and his confidence rises greatly when he does score a goal. He's one of those players who often goes on mini-runs of goals, and if he has a good start to next season it could be a a while before Lewis Cook catches up with Gozza.

Meanwhile, French paper L'Equippe beleives Man City are favourites to sign Nathan Aké.

  1. He works hard yes but taking a booking is cos he miss times tackles and his positional sense is quite poor in respect of who he should be marking he runs alot but leaves us exposed at times when he decides to go flying off and leaves gaps nice lad and will work hard but don't think he is good enough

  2. He's a fighter and under rated. He is in the mould of Adam Smith works hard but never quite gets the satisfaction of being a first start regular
