There was no secret about AFCB's interest in Demaria Gray during the January transfer window. He was certainly the main target and while Birmingham City did not accept any of AFCB's repeated bids it is likely that both the management at Bournemouth and the fans of the Cherries will hope that he plays so that they can have a bit of a closer look at this talented youngster.
Things may of course become a little more complicated if the Cherries make further offers in the summer, but for now Demarai Gray is a Birmingham player who will know doubt be just concentrating on his football. In his last away match against he played for 65 minutes but was replaced by ex-Watford winger Lloyd Dyer and it is possible that Demarai will have quite a battle just to keep his place in the Birmingham side for the visit to the Cherries having scored four goals in the league this season. On Friday too, the young international was subbed on 67 minutes against Rotherham for Lloyd Dyer to come on.
Demarai recently played in the England U19 team that beat Denmark 3-2 where he scored after 44 minutes in the European qualifier. That side is of course managed by Sean O'Driscoll and I am sure that Eddie Howe is kept informed of how Demarai has been playing by Sean.
Whether Gray is worth as much as AFCB seem to assess him is hard to know at this stage in his career, but Birmingham City are clearly wanting to hold on to him. AFCB fans might just find out what the fuss is all about when the Cherries take on Birmingham City on Easter Monday.
AFCB fans will also hope to see the home debut of Kenwyne Jones who is already a favourite having rescued a point for the Cherries at Ipswich, now we just want to see that back flip again.
This is a fan’s personal view of AFC Bournemouth from the outside looking in. It reports on the daily official activities reported by the club and comments made by individual fans on social media and fanbase websites. Life as an AFCB fan is never dull. As a life-long supporter of the Cherries, it is the friendliness of the staff, fans and my enthusiasm for the club that inspired me to write this blog.

Watford are again among the pace-setters
Watford may have come off worse last weekend against a rejuvenated Charlton side under Bob Peeters but they dominated most of that game. Oscar Garcia also had to go away to Blackpool in mid-week, where his team squeezed a one-nil away but he suffered some heart discomfort. Sadly, Garcia will not be present at the match against the Cherries, but it appears that he is recovering well and will soon be back at Watford after some rest. His side though are bound to give their all for the manager and AFCB could be on the back end of a goal hungry Watford side who are already third in the table.
It has been built up to be quite a match with the Sky cameras there and the unveiling of the new East stand, but AFCB have to forget all that and concentrate on trying to get three points because we have seen what a rampant Hornet side can do at home last season and we don't want a repeat.
Troy Deeney will be a big miss for Watford as he is again showing that he is a striker who can propel Watford right up into the top play-off positions. It is time for Matej Vydra to see what he can do against an AFCB defence that has started to leak goals. Vydra scored against Blackpool but has only scored one in seven games for the Hornets. The creative play of Almen Abdi will also be a threat and in the box it is Gabriele Angella who has a habit of scoring against the Cherries. Lloyd Dyer has mainly been used as a sub this season, but again is a player that can get a goal out of nothing. Fernando Forestieri is likely to face the Cherries again and Gianni Munari is said to be available.
Watford have won all three of their home games this season. They netted three against Bolton on the first day and since then they have scored four against Leeds and Huddersfield, so be under no illusion, this is a tough assignment for Eddie Howe's side. They have to try and take the first points away from the Hornets at home this season.
Containment may be the best strategy against Watford. It is unlikely that Eddie Howe will take that option though and that is what makes this game a big spectacle for the TV cameras. I believe AFCB are a much improved side though from the 6-1 defeat we saw last season, even if Watford are also improved. The key will be who retains possession the best, and if the Cherries can keep Watford out in the first half hour I see the possibility for a tight match.
Update: Watford have changed their mind and said the new East stand will now not be open for the Bournemouth game.

Cherry Chimes talks to From The Rookery End blog
Rival Lines
Watford v AFCB
Blogger Interview: From The Rookery End
The matches are coming quickly now and this Saturday it's the turn of AFCB to visit Watford who sit high up in third place in the Championship. Cherry Chimes asked some questions a few days ago to Jon Moonie who is one of the main writers on From the Rookery End. The interview took place before the news that Oscar Garcia had become ill and we wish him a very speedy recovery.
CC: How do you think Watford fans will have judged Beppe's Sannino's time in charge at Watford and his sudden departure?
FTRE: We'll remember him as a man who did a job, but not quite up to the big job! In our little Watford bubble. In fact, we thought it would have happened in the summer!
CC: Do you expect to see a different 'attacking' style of football under Oscar Garcia and do you think he can do better than he did at Brighton with the play-offs?
FTRE: Unsure what Oscar's tactics will be, but he's got a stonking squad compared to Brighton. His hospital visit this week means he hasn't had lots of time to put his mark on the squad.
CC: How do you feel Lloyd Dyer, Heurelho Gomez and Gabriel Tamas are fitting in so far?
FTRE: Dyer has shone when played, but not been that many chances. Gomez is great in goal and a great celebrator. Tamas "the nutter" adds a little of fight in the defence - which still needs help!
CC: The new summer signings at the club belong to the previous regime but do you feel the side is stronger than last season and do you expect Garcia to be given more funds in January?
FTRE: They aren't part of a previous regime, they were part of the owners network - Beppe didn't pick them. Oscar won't be given money, we're part of something much bigger!
CC: Which game has been the most pleasing to see so far this season?
FTRE: The first game v Bolton and it being a great win! Rotherham away was a battling win, which we didn't have a lot of last season.
CC: What is the main feeling about the new East stand at Vickerage Road?
FTRE: It's new and we have a complete stadium - WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!
CC: You managed to keep to Troy Deeney with his new 4-year contract, was that a surprise?
FTRE: A little yes, but not jaw dropping. He knows that the owners are behind this team and he knows where he could be king!!
CC: As the Watford v Bournemouth game is on TV and an early kick off, do Watford usually do well in front of the SkySports' cameras that you can recall?
FTRE: We had a good run a few years back, but it wasn't good last season.
CC: How important do you think it is for Garcia to get off to a good start against AFCB at home?
FTRE: It's no different to any new manager - but he may not be there to take full charge!
CC: Do you know of any injuries and players unlikely to make the team against the Cherries?
FTRE: Troy hobbled off on Tuesday! #prayfortroy
CC: Have you heard of any special match or tribute to be paid to Manuel Almunia ...perhaps an Arsenal v Watford game would be good?
FTRE: No, but the remembers co display will be spectacular!!
Thank you Jon for taking part in Rival Lines - you can catch up with more Watford views including podcasts at From the Rookery End. I'll be taking in Sky coverage of the game having seen enough of Harry the Hornet last season in both the League cup and the away league fixture. I am hoping that the Cherries give Watford their hardest game of the season so far as AFCB already need to claw back a few points. UTCIAD!
Don't forget to visit Free Bet Negotiator if you are going to make some big score predictions this weekend so that you get some vouchers for future bets. I reckon Ritchie will be a good bet for AFCB's first goal and his opener for the season - who do you go for?

It's not just Nugent AFCB have to keep quiet
Leicester City are dropping in on Dean Court on Saturday and while you look at the stats and start to creek at the qualities of David Nugent and his impressive goal haul of 17, you might think that AFCB will be doing okay if they can stop him. Sadly though the job is bigger than that for our lads. Leicester City have the best attack in the Championship with Jamie Vardy and Lloyd Dyer also chipping in another 19 goals together, two in the last game against Birmingham. Only Derby have scored more goals than Leicester, but Derby have let in several more goals than Leicester who sit proudly at the top of the division.
I have to admit that I was never that sure whether Nigel Pearson was a good manager or not. He has had his struggles in the Championship but he seems to be a good fit at Leicester and is pushing his players on to greater things than the play-offs last season. It has to be in part down to him that Leicester are riding so high.
The signing of Kevin Phillips also raised eyebrows with the striker now 40, but he has already shown great understanding with Nugent and if he can teach a few tricks to the Foxes strikers as well as filling in for the last 20 minutes of games he has to be an astute addition to the squad. You can't fault Phillips' desire of his bottle when he helped Palace to the Premiership. He just keeps on going.
It is Dyer that I was most impressed with when we played Leicester away. He has startling pace and gave Francis probably his hardest game of the season. They also have Knockaert on the right who is no slouch while Drinkwater strides around imperiously in the centre of the park for them.
Yeah, they are a Premiership outfit in waiting more or less with Schmeichel in goal and Konchesky, de Laet and Moore all being highly praised for their performances at the back. Having won their last seven when this article was written you have to say that AFCB have their work cut out. But these kind of challenges are something that our players have to look forward to. Imagine what a win against such a side can do for morale and belief in the games to come.
AFCB have held their own against many of the top sides away, but it would be great to see them score a few more goals at home. I am sure Eddie Howe will ask the team to defend well, but attacking Leicester is what AFCB will try to do. Perhaps an early goal for the Cherries can turn the pressure onto the Foxes so that we can see how they respond to that. But Leicester have won a record eight games on the bounce so this is a very tricky game and a draw would not be a bad result in my opinion.
