Are Cherries about to sign Fiorentina keeper?

Bournemouth may have widened their search for a new keeper, reaching out to Fiorentina, according to Corriere dello Sport. The Cherries are said to be interested in Bartlomiej Dragowski who was loaned out to Empoli last season and made 24 appearances for the Italian side, including one game where he made an astonishing 17 saves against Atlanta in a Serie A match.
Asmir Begovic's position is still uncertain for next season.
Bartlomiej Dragowski is a Polish U21 international and it makes me wonder of Artur Boruc has given the heads up on the young keeper. Artur would no doubt like to have a compatriot as a protege next season. Southampton are also said to be keen on attracting the 21-year-old to the Premier League so it won't be a straight decision for the Polish keeper.

What is hard to work out is AFCB's strategy on goalkeepers. They already have U21 international Aaron Ramsey and Mark Travers who is a full international. If neither of AFCB's two young keepers is deemed experienced enough yet to play a full season as back up to Artur Boruc, then why is the club keen to being in yet another young and inexperienced keeper? Perhaps Bartlomiej Dragowski is seen as a replacement for Travers or Ramsdale if they go put on loan.

Such a signing would be in line with Howe's policy of signing 21-year-olds, so we'll keep an eye on this one. The national papers aren't talking about it, but Football Index  also talked about a link with Bournemouth and the keeper in early June and Sports Witness picked up on the story a few days ago. With Fiorentina in takeover talks though AFCB may have to be patient with any transfer.

In other news, three fixtures have been moved for TV for AFCB including the away match with Southampton which will now be at 8pm on Friday 20 September.

  1. I don't think you can compare Dragowski to Travers or Ramsdale. Dragowski was a starter on a Serie A side, while those two have two combined appearances above league one, both by Travers. Dragowski not only started for a Serie A in Empoli last year, but he was one of the better keepers in the league once he was inserted into the lineup winning Man Of the Match in a quarter of his starts. He's also long been thought of as one of the best young goalkeepers in the world. Grabbing a player like Dragowski would be a coup for Bournemouth.
