Who would have thought that the first derby for Bournemouth this season would have so much resting on it? I might have thought it would be Brighton that would be most in need of a win after four games, having just come up from the Championship, but they have everything to gain in this match if they do get a win and AFCB fail to deliver again.
I think Eddie Howe knows that his side can't continue to play as poorly as they have been and that is why he can remain positive. Somebody has to remain positive to make every player see that those around are willing them on to do their job well. I don't see Brighton as a soft touch though. They are going to be more determined than most sides to get their first away win against a struggling Bournemouth side who have had a couple of seasons at this level. Just put yourself in a Brighton supporter's clothes for a second and think what it would be like to beat AFCB in an away game! It would be a great night for them.

Only a sleepwalking mentality into this match from AFCB will allow Brighton to dominate this game as Eddie Howe will make it apparent that they have to drive the Seagulls back and ask questions of their defence from the start. Even when AFCB have started well though, they frequently find it hard to get the second goal to give them some breathing space and so I'm hoping that the Friday night game is not filled with massive tension with a Cherries side trying to hold on to a slim advantage for the best part of 70 minutes.

But that is what Eddie Howe needs to get over to his players. AFCB are a team that are being shot at now as they have been successful and they need to demonstrate that for other teams wins don't come easy at Dean Court. This is a match the players have to be up for as it will be a physical encounter and a fast game, if it is a typical derby. Any of the sleepwalking will play right into Brighton's hands. We need to see the pride and passion of a derby home win to make everyone feel better about themselves. It should mean something to the players not only to get three points, but to stop a Brighton side that think they might have started to get to grips with the Premier League - that's often when it bites you back.
