AFCB's pre-season gets even tougher with Olympic Marseilles

Olympic Marseilles are probably the hardest of opponents that AFCB will have faced this summer. They finished fourth in the French Le Ligue last season on 77 points and lost in the Europa League final last year to Atlético Madrid. They have been banned though from the competition for the next two years because of crowd disturbances.

New signings this summer include Duje Caleta-Car from FC Red Bull Salzburg. He is a 21-year-old Croatian international who has Europa League experience. The big name they have tried to bring in this summer is Mario Balotellu who has been playing for Nice, reports Football Italia. But the talks have apparently stalled.
Eddie Howe can expect another battle against Marseilles for his first team.
Their captain is well-known in England. Dimitri Payet was a big hit at West Ham and their have been rumours about him coning back to London. Their main striker is Florian Thauvin who is a French international.

Their recent form includes a 1-1 draw with Villarreal and a 2-3 defeat to Real Betis who Bournemouth are lining up against. Earlier in the summer they beat Nantes 2-1 and drew 1-1 with Sporting Portugal. Their first game of pre-season was a 1-0 defeat to Saint-Etienne.

Rudi Garcia is the Marseilles manager who has been at the club since 2016.

The Cherries should have a fairly full house for this friendly. It's a last chance for AFCB to get things right before the start of the season and while results are not that important it would certainly give the team a lift if they can get the win.

Possible AFCB starting XI
Begovic, A Smith, S Cook, Aké, Daniels, Brooks, Gosling, Surman, Fraser, King, Wilson

In other news, Seattle Sounders of the MLS are to sign Brad Smith on loan.

Levante agree terms and Jefferson Lerma will join AFCB for a record fee.
