A special day at Dean Court

Bournemouth were a bit frustrated by their inability to score against Swansea City, but they more than made up for that against Huddersfield Town. Five goals was more than could have been expected but the pleasing thing is how so many players were getting forward and how very few chances were being squandered.

I am not sure what has happened over the past 12 months with Dominic Solabke. He has suddenly found his game having been so out of sorts in the past. The Championship certainly suits him as the goals come really quickly, and it has helped him get into relishing matches. He has taken on the mantle of wanting the ball when there is a chance to score, and he is finding the back of the net.

An inform David Brooks is certainly something to behold in the Championship. He was rightly the division's player of the month in November and he is terrorising defences now that he is back to full fitness and playing games week after week. Stopping him though is not the oppositions' only problem. as we have seen players like Junior Stanislas also turn on the after burners and run through the heart of Huddersfield's defence. It's going to be hard for Danjuma to get back into the side at its rate.

The option to also use Sam Surridge is starting to give AFCB even more ideas when the games need to be expanded. Surridge can shake up defences further. Sam is becoming comfortable in the team and he knows he is good enough now. The excitement and pleasure that individuals are doing so well is transmitted throughout the team, and that is developing a wonderful team spirit.

Solanke leads teh charge with a brace against Huddersfield Town.

The crowds injected the Christmas sparkle in Bournemouth's stride as they quickly went about establishing a 3-0 first half lead against Huddersfield Town. Dominic Solanke was in terrific form slotting away a couple of goals in the first 13 minutes before David Brooks scored a spectacular goal from the edge of the box to make it 3-0 on 21 minutes. Huddersfield just made too many mistakes and this day AFCB's finishing was razor-sharp. They continued second half with a sensational defence sllitting run and goal from Junior Stanislas before Sam Surridge came on to make it five. It could have been more but the home crowd was just as pleased to see Bournemouth's third-youngest player ever, Ajani Burchall, get a run out before the game drew to a close.

Bournemouth made two changes with Diego Rico suspended and Chris Mepham dropping out of the starting line-up. That gave Jack Simpson a start and Jefferson Lerma came back into the starting line-up, but there was no Arnaut Danjuma or Josh King to be seen.

Match Description
The Cherries played a back four for this game as they looked for their third clean sheet in a row. They got off to the perfect start with Dominic Solanke dinking the shot over the keeper from inside the box on seven minutes. He did well after latching on to a pass from David Brooks.

Begovic had to make a good save from Bacuma but in the flash of a second Bournemouth were at it again on 13 minutes when Huddersfield play out from the back terribly and Solanke made it 2-0 off a Jefferson Lerma pass. 

Huddersfield tried to come back with shots Bacuna and Danny Ward, but Bournemouth got their blocks in and Begovic was equal to Ward's shot. Huddersfield went closer when Brooks, who was carded, gave away a free kick and Lewis O'Brien shot wide from distance.

Lerma then picked out Solanke again who brought the ball down and played it back to Brooks who made it 3-0 on 21 minutes. Brooks curled the ball delightfully into the top corner.

Huddersfield were still having the bravery to go forward, but Bournemouth were in devastating form in front of goal. Lewis O'Brien was proving to be the main threat from Huddersfield. Toffolo was Huddersfield's first player to be booked, while Rowe saw another attempt go over before half time.

Brooks then went close again with a  strike just wide of the left post.

Second Half
Huddersfield replaced Ben Hammer with Ryan Schofield at the start of the half. But Huddersfield couldn't get a goal to get into the game, even if they hadn't given up hope.

Jaden Brown was subbed for Diarra to come on and Mbenze replaced Ward as the visitors looked for a way to get back into the game.

Bournemouth found their stride again with a good move that saw Billing force a save from Schofield with the ball coming off the post. Kelly also made a brilliant last-ditch tackle in to stop Mbenzi going one on one with Begovic.

Solanke then went close with a drive from 25 yards. Billing and Brooks were then subbed on 64 minutes for Surridge and Gosling.

The game was completely taken away from Huddersfield when Junior Stanislas ran from halfway beating three or more players with a direct run through the heart of the Huddersfield team before beating the keeper and making it 4-0 - it was an amazing goal.

Just to remind everyone that Bournemouth have a very good striker that should be getting more game time, Sam Surridge got his name on the score sheet after Solanke slipped a quick pass to Gosling who fired it over to Surridge to make it 5-0.

Tindall decided to sub Solanke on 70 minutes for Riquelme to come on and Huddersfield subbed Toffolo and O'Brien for Chrichlow and Vallejo.

Adam Smith's cross put Riquelme in on goal but Shcofield pulled off a good save from the Bournemouth sub.

Vallejo fired wide following a corner before Gosling saw his shot saved as Bournemouth pushed for a sixth goal.

Burchall at 16-years-old made his AFCB debut and Zemura also came on as Junior Stanislas and Adam Smith were replaced on 87 minutes. Riquelme then skied a free kick.

Summary

A spectacular return to winning ways for Bournemouth with a happy 1200 fans watching on inside Dean Court for the first time in 287 days. Huddersfield were dispatched with superb finishing from a Bournemouth side who are starting to eye the top positions now on a permanent basis. The goal scorers are in fine form and Bournemouth are the team nobody wants to play in the Championship at the moment with plenty of gilas in the side and their third clean sheet in a row.

Supporters return to Dean Court after 287 days

I expect the return of fans to Dean Court will be a bit of a celebration game. It may not come at the best time for Huddersfield Town, but Bournemouth played up at Middlesbrough when they were allowed some fans and Bournemouth have had no vocal support for quite some time at games, 287 days to be exact. I imagine that the fans will be well spread out, but I hope they can make some noise as it will help the team. 

It won't be a packed stadium but some lucky fans are back today.

Bournemouth can be pleased with the defensive side of the game, but they will be looking to find ways of getting back to opening teams up. Jason Tindall seems a bit cautious about Aranaut Danjuma being 100 per cent ready, but I'd expect him to be at least on the bench. We may find a few changes for this game, as the Swansea game followed quickly after the Barnsley result and it was a heavy pitch at the Liberty Stadium.

I am hoping the crowd noise will help Bournemouth to make a quick start and get an early goal. Bournemouth have looked at their best when they get an early goal to settle them down. It has been a struggle when they have conceded early on, even if they have made some comebacks with the most notable one being against Reading.

Philip Billing of course will be hoping to make an appearance against his old club. Tindall has been able to give Philip Billing and Lewis Cook the game at Swansea with Jefferson Lerma being on the bench, but Lerma will want back in now and that could mean Philip Billing is on the bench for this game. With Diego Rico definitely out with a suspension, Tindall could bring in Jack Simpson or Jordan Zemura if he wants to keep Adam Smith on the right side.

I still feel the most unlucky player at the moment is Sam Surridge. He missed out in the last match from starting when he might have hoped to carry on his run. He is likely to be frustrated again for this game but I'd like to see him given 45 minutes, if Solanke comes up with another blank against Huddersfield in the first half, or indeed it would be good to see Solanke and Surridge as a two up front. The forward roles of Stanislas and Brooks though is something that works well and that should mean that it is only going to be one center-forward working between the two wingers.

Billing deal almost completed

Jan Siewert, Huddersfield Town's boss has told The Examiner Live that the Philip Billing transfer deal to AFC Bournemouth is nearly done with a fee of around £15m plus add-ons agreed. Billing wished Billing all the best and it appears that the midfielder is getting ready to join AFCB next week.

A new central midfielder could soon be on show at Dean Court.

Siewert said that the move was moving forward. It has been rumoured for over a month that Billing was a target for the Cherries, and while AFCB have been in talks for much of the summer the deal is likely to be the club's third signing to get over the line this summer. The central midfield area has been the part of the pitch that most fans would see the line up usually being filled by Lerma and one other. 

Whether Howe thinks that Philip Billing is a step up from Lewis Cook, Dan Gosling and Andrew Surman we are just about to see - it could be a very bug challenge now for the central players already at the club who had been sharing the position next to Lerma. It also gives Howe some more cover if he has to do without Lerma for a game or two.

Howe of course wants competition for places and to improve the team and with Nathan Aké having to play in central midfield at times last season, it looked clear that the squad was perhaps a player short in this department with the long-term injury to Lewis Cook. I like the idea of having a tall central midfield player for the Cherries and Billing is said to be a very mobile player that has great running power. If his passing and tackling is also top quality, it could be a major signing.

So it appears that we can start to get excited about another player arrival at AFCB. The three signings this summer have been in defence and midfield. It is now down to these new players to try and ensure they get into the first team, but I see that not being so easy for all of them to do straight away.

Unsettled Huddersfield midfielder could be Cherries next signing

The Cherries may have locked on to their target at Huddersfield, but fun and games look to be going on at the Yorkshire club. At least AFCB's target has been told to train with the academy players and Huddersfield Town have put a price-tag of £17m on their midfielder Philip Billing, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

We looked at Philip Billing as a potential target at the start of July. The player has played against the Cherries in the Premier League and is a tall central midfielder who is only 23. Huddersfield Town Manager Jan Siewert put Billing with the academy players and did not award him a shirt number for the new season, after Billing apparently called him 'arrogant' and 'strange', says the Daily Mail.

Whether Billing had requested to speak with AFCB is not clear, but it is unlikely that Huddersfield will be impressed with the dispute between manager and player. If the Terriers want shot of Billing he could very soon be an AFCB player. Whether the price of £17m is supposed to frighten off AFCB is questionable, because the Cherries have not spent big this summer and have built up a sizeable pot if they wanted to use it from player sales.

The central midfield area has looked like it needs investment when Lerma is not available. Bournemouth might hope that Lewis Cook becomes the main challenger for the spot next to Lerma, but it won't help to bring in another young player in AFCB's engine room. If AFCB can up their intensity in the middle of the pitch it will take a bit of pressure off the defence and give the likes of Brooks, Wilson and Fraser more of the ball. This would be a signing that would look like AFCB are building for the future and that's got to be the case with Andrew Surman easing down his appearances you'd expect next season.

The transfer market could be about to hot up for the Cherries. The Daily Mirror's transfer feed is reporting that Eddie Howe is keen to bring 23-year-old Philip Billing to the south coast. The central midfielder has been liked by the Cherries' boss for some time, according to the paper and now it appears that with Huddersfield's relegation their is a chance to bring the Dane to Bournemouth.

What does this mean for the shape of AFCB's midfield if Billing can be attracted? It is going to be a scramble for places with Gosling, Surman and Lewis Cook the players coming under pressure to maintain their form playing next to Jefferson Lerma. It would also be likely that Harry Arter would be allowed to leave, perhaps along with Emerson Hyndman.

It is a reasonable move to bring in a Premier League player who could become a full Danish international and is fully aware of what the top league is all about. AFCB would give Billing the platform he needs to progress his career. How much AFCB need a central midfielder who again is not renowned for his goalscoring is another issue. I'd like to see AFCB develop the squad with players that can reach their full potential, but knowing which young players are the right ones to pick is becoming more challenging. One thing Billing would give AFCB is more height at 6ft 4ins.

This summer appears to be a transfer window that could be made up of bringing players in that are still trying to build their reputations. Whether that builds enough excitement for the fans for the new season we will only see if AFCB get off to a good start.

AFCB have been treading water

AFCB have been up against it ever since Adam Smith was injured in the first part of the season. The injuries to Smith and Simon Francis occurred at a time just before the hard run of fixtures and AFCB never really recovered. While there was the odd win against Chelsea that flattered AFCB in showing they could win without Callum Wilson, it has been a dreadful last few months for Eddie Hoe and his team.

AFCB have to find it within themselves to start winning games again.

There has been a slow decline in confidence and AFCB keep looking for things to get a pick up from. It was thought that the return of Callum Wilson would be the magic ingredient and for a short while it certainly helped, but even he has now become overly concerned about hitting the target and is snatching at chances in front of goal.

Eddie though that it was the goalkeeper situation that needed looking at and when he put Boruc in goal there was a better confidence about the defence. That was blown away when Boruc was dropped and Begovic came back in. Now the back four is unsettled as well as the keepers. The stability has been broken.

There are also rumours of players perhaps leaving this summer such as Ryan Fraser and Nathan Aké. The talk does not do anything for team spirit, while those who have injuries have to not only pick themselves up but also try and help their teammates who aren't winning games at the moment.

The pressure has been on for a while. We have all seen it as fans and while the away win at Huddersfield might have signalled a return to normality, it proved to be only a brief interlude. AFCB are on that cliff edge where they need one win to feel good about themselves again. But the defeats keep coming and Howe doesn't look any closer to finding answers yet. The analysis needs to be better to send these players out n the pitch with a belief that they are still the AFCB that can win games in the Premier League. Then the players have to execute the plan that has been given to them. They'll try again at Brighton and it's important that the fans try and help them now rather than getting on their backs if we want them to get that win. UTCIAD!

Robbie Savage when were you last in Bournemouth?

Robbie Savage got a real dressing down on BBC 5 Live by AFC Bournemouth fan Jean, when Robbie had been asked to name the clubs he would rather kick out of the Premier League to be replaced by the likes of Leeds United, Aston Villa and Derby County. Big grounds and lots of supporters are what the Premier League should be all about scoffed Savage, but he hadn't reckoned on Bournemouth fan Jean calling in and standing up for the likes of Bournemouth, Fulham and Huddersfield Town, who Robbie would quickly replace.

While Bournemouth do only have a capacity of some 11,500 at most, the club has fought hard to win its place in the Premier League and the only criteria for staying in the Premier League is winning enough points to stay up, there's nothing about the size of your ground in the rules. Still there are those who would believe the well-supported clubs are the clubs that should be in the Premier League. They forget that the underdog is something that gives sport a special place. People want to see the minnow come out on top now and again and you'd never have that if want to see ManUtd v Leeds Utd every week. Financially, there is a massive gulf even between those two clubs, but using the history card is also something that tripped up Savage. He couldn't escape the fact that Huddersfield Town have won more titles that his beloved Derby County or Leeds Utd for instance.

Jean was pleased to put Robbie right in saying that Huddersfield were a bigger club in their day than many of the clubs he feels are the big clubs of today. Huddersfield may have gone down this season, but there are still plenty of so-called 'small clubs' that are over achieving and keeping themselves above the likes of Leeds United and Aston Villa.

If awards were given out for the size of support your club had we might as well give up kicking a ball. History changes as well as time goes on, and the small clubs of today can grow to become bigger clubs once they build upon their success.

It did make me laugh that Robbie Savage may also miss his chance to come down and see Bournemouth in the Premier League, as he hasn't been to Dean Court since 1998, when he says he scored a winner for Carlisle United. Robbie get yourself down to Dean Court and sample the atmosphere of a small ground in the Premier League - you may then understand why so many visiting teams find it hard to beat this south coast club. We may have a small crowd, but we make a lot of noise!

Taking points off lower teams is no certainty

Bournemouth have a good run of games now with only Leicester and Spurs in the top half to play. But does this mean that points will be easy to pick up against the lower half teams? I don't see it that way, as there is still a big scrap for teams not to join Huddersfield and Fulham who now look destined for the drop.

Bournemouth have a good record against many of the bottom half clubs.

Just look at the way Southampton have turned over Tottenham and Cardiff stuck two goals past West Ham without reply, and Newcastle were 0-2 against Everton last weekend, before coming back for a 3-2 win. The teams down there are really giving it their all now and these are not easy games to win.

Bournemouth probably just need one more win to feel they are safe from relegation fears, but if they want to challenge their best every points score they need to get to the 40-point mark as soon as possible. Playing the teams who could finish below and in and around the Cherries is ultimately going to decide where Bournemouth finish.

A few weeks ago, Newcastle were down near the bottom of the table but they have been revitalised and have really kicked on in 2019, and are finding it much easier to pick up points. So, Bournemouth will need to defend well against Rondón and company to hold off Newcastle. They didn't manage that earlier in the season, so the next game will be a test to see if Bournemouth have found a way to defend better against this attack.

Fraser is having his best season at AFCB

There might have been some big names back in the team for the away trip to Huddersfield but the star of the game for me was Ryan Fraser. He took a really nasty challenge in the second half, but it didn't slow him down and he is starting to look a very good player when he and Callum Wilson work together.

Callum said in his post-match interview that the two of them have a telepathic understanding. Fraser certainly seemed pleased to have Callum back in the side as the two of them tend to feed off each other. Having a target man to aim for, who you know is likely to finish most of his chances, is great to have in any side and Fraser has shown that he is the assist man this season and has no trouble in finding Wilson game after game.

Fraser has matured and he is now a mainstay of the team. I believe he has also benefited form the arrival of David Brooks who has taken many plaudits. But Fraser now has a player that he has to try and do as well as, because Brooks has also been consistent with his performances. The two of them are having a close competition to see who will score more goals this season, behind King and Wilson. Who is your money on?

Taken as a whole, this has to be Fraser's best season to date. He has had a good run in the team and it is difficult to imagine anywhere else playing on the left wing. He is one of the players that puts the work rate in and is always looking to do better. He's a player that I still believe is underestimated by many opposition teams, but AFCB fans know that he has become one of our most important players.

Clean sheets is what Bournemouth should celebrate

There has always been a lot of stress put on Eddie Howe's teams to score goals. There should perhaps be more congratulations though when the team gets a clean sheet, as it is an area of the game where the Cherries still have a lot of ground to make up with on other mid-table teams in the Premier League.

Boruc is playing his part in keeping the goals down.

The goals against column looks rather poor with only Burnley, Cardiff and Fulham letting in more goals this season. Its the one aspect of the game that could seriously trip Bournemouth up in future seasons, if they can't find away of reducing the goals against. With top defenders like Aké and Clyne in the team for most games now, it is likely that the goals against might start to slowdown. Mepham is also showing an aptitude for the game that could push him ahead for Steve Cook for the start of next season.

If Howe is to get Bournemouth challenging for the top positions in this league the greatest room for improvement is at the back. It's hard to put your finger on why Bournemouth do concede so many goals, but they do play with an open side that can be their downfall when they lose the ball high up the pitch and the individual mistakes always seem to rack up.

With Jefferson Lerma in the team there is more physical aggression in the team, but Bournemouth are still perhaps a player or two light in having the same kind of attributes of Lerma. He shuts down players very quickly and is a great ball winner, and if Bournemouth can find another strong ball winner it might well take some pressure off the back line and reduce the goals against.

What Bournemouth need to do is look at their games when they are getting clean sheets and assessing closely what is helping them to achieve that. Huddersfield didn't get shots on target and Bournemouth have to make more teams with better attacks than this struggle to get shots on target when they play Bournemouth.

Is King fatigued?

While Bournemouth have been pleased to welcome Callum Wilson back, the match against Huddersfield was a tough one for Josh King. There was plenty of willing endeavour from King, but he couldn't find his clinical finish and was perhaps starting to show that he needs a rest as much as some of the other players who have missed some games through injury.

Josh King has played 27 games in the Premier League this season.

The problem with having a small squad is that there is little room for rotating players and with every game being so important Howe is reluctant to leave his big hitters out of the team for a game. I just believe that some players need a boost by being rested for a game or two at some point, and King has been leading the line for game after game.

Against Huddersfield King had many chances to score and none better than the opportunity in the second half when the ball was tantalisingly bouncing right by the goal line. It looked as if King blocked his own shot, but Stanovich might have got a toe in to stop King from scoring. King did tend to snatch at a few of his chances and may be wondering how come he came away with no goals that afternoon.

Usually King links up well with Wilson but it was Fraser who was making the most of Bournemouth's number 13's return. King's game is all about high energy and he will want to do better on his next outing. To replace him with Mousset, Surridge or Solanke is going to be a big call for Howe to make this season, and it means King has to really look uninterested to find himself out of the picture. Yet, his current form has dipped and while he scored from the spot against Wolves, it was back in January when King last scored in open play against Chelsea.

Wilson has been the missing link

Bournemouth look so much more effective when they have Callum Wilson in the team. They might have beaten Chelsea at home without him, but when Wilson is in the side there is always a feeling that he can score a goal.

Wilson continues to add goals to the team.

Whether other team members find it hard to believe that they can win games without Wilson is something that perhaps Eddie Howe needs to work on with them. There is no doubt that Wilson believes he is a match winner, and can score every time he goes out onto the pitch. He now has his 50th goal for AFCB having netted against Huddersfield at the weekend.

Even this season it has been hard to get an injury-free Wilson for the big games. He does get knee problems, which is perhaps to be expected after is two cruciate ligament breaks, but with the material around one of his knees now cleaned up it will be interesting to see if he can go these last eight games without any further troubles. He says he has been working hard with the physio team to ensure he can play 90 minutes, and he clearly wants to give his best whenever he puts on an AFCB shirt.

Wilson has become a talisman for the team for sure. He seems to revel in the extra attention and pressure and when things are going well for him it looks a very simple game to play. He does need good service though, and it is Ryan Fraser that I believe he has a lot to thank for his nickname of Bournemouth's goal machine.

AFCB's away day blues finally lifted

Although the away fixtures have been hard, it was really about time that Bournemouth got a result away from home. We no longer have to go back as far as 27 October to remember a good away performance, and the way Bournemouth achieved their 2-0 win was extremely pleasing.

Lerma was a powerful addition in midfield for AFCB.

For once, it wasn't Artur Boruc who was the busier keeper. He only had to make one punch away and a dolly catch in the first half from a blunt Huddersfield attack. But more than that, it was good to see some solid defending from Mepham and Aké. Even when that defensive block was disrupted, with Adam Smith having to come off, Nathaniel Clyne stepped straight in and the balance of the team was not affected.

Where Bournemouth were really strong in this game was on the counter-attack. In some matches the movement from defence to attack hasn't really come off, but with Wilson and Fraser on form it was back to business. The fast passing and movement has to be just right to get behind teams and with Fraser's running, Bournemouth were able to open the door of Huddersfield's defence.

When the second goal went in there was no doubt about the outcome of the game. Bournemouth didn't come under any pressure and really Josh King and Callum Wilson had moments when they'll look back and think the margin of victory could have been bigger.

Bournemouth now have a good result behind them and Eddie Howe can look back and feel vindicated that the result against Man City was helpful in keeping morale high for the Huddersfield game.

Gareth Southgate was watching on to see Callum Wilson get the early first half goal in this game. The England striker had a simple chest finish to put the Cherries ahead and with better shooting from King and Wilson it could have been two or three goals in the first half. Bournemouth did lose Adam Smith to a hamstring pull and Howe knew the team needed a second goal to ensure the points with the wind making it difficult for players to make accurate crosses. The second goal came mid-way through the second half with Wilson squaring the ball to return the favour for Fraser, who wrapped things up. King could have added to the score, but he couldn't make the most of his chances. The only sour note was injuries to Adam Smith and David Brooks.

Lerma was also back.

There was a mixed bag of team news with Callum Wilson making and Jefferson Lerma making it back into the team. Charlie Daniels and Adam Smith kept their places, while Nathaniel Clyne and Jack Simpson moved to the bench. There was no Jordan Ibe or Dan Gosling on the bench, but Dominic Solanke was back on the sidelines.

Huddersfield were fighting for their lives.

Jefferson Lerma gave the first free kick away in the first minute with both teams scrapping for possession early on. Billing fouls King and Bournemouth look to be trying to pass their way out of defence.

Wilson stretches his legs but can't get on the end of a long pass. Huddersfield give an early corner away. Brooks mis-hits a shot. Surman and Lerma almost break on Huddersfield but are dispossessed.

Billing wins a free kick on the left side of Bournemouth's box.  Boruc punches Mooy's shot clear for a throw. A long shot goes wide from Durum. A strong run from Fraser and Wilson just can't get to the ball in front of goal.

Gareth Southgate is sitting behind Jeff Mostyn in the stands. Huddersfield's build up play is good, but only Mounie is getting in the box for them. Bacuna plays into Pritchard but the shot is well over.

Fraser plays in Wilson and Lössl has to make a good save with his legs. King does well to hold off a player, but puts a poor pass in aiming for Fraser on 17 minutes.

Great ball out of defence and Brooks finds Fraser who is away on the left, through to Wilson and off the striker's chest and into the net 0-1 on 20 minutes. Super ball across from Fraser for the goal. That's Wilson's 50th league goal for Bournemouth.

Bournemouth on the attack again have a corner. It's punched clear. Huddersfield get the ball in the box, but there's no shot. Kachunga does get a shot away, but Boruc catches it easily.

Huddersfield corner. Lerma heads away and Brooks wins a free kick. Daniels breaks into the box and wins a corner on 29 minutes. Daniels puts in a cross but it's too deep.

Mounie plays a horrible ball out of play, when he had blue and white shirts all around him. Brouc does well coming for a high cross. Wilson has a free kick with Stankovic all over him. The ball is wasted and straight to the keeper. Both teams are having problems with the wind. Mounie spoons a cross over the top and out of play.

Fraser wins a free kick and there's a booking for Bacuna. Huddersfield get the ball away. Brooks floats a ball in to King but the shot is taken first  time and goes wide on 41 minutes.

Adam Smith might have pulled a muscle. Yep, left hamstring. Adam Smith is coming off. Huddersfield were unhappy about Smith going down off the pitch and then coming back on to sit down and get attention.

AFCB are down to 10-men for the moment. Wilson puts the ball out so that Clyne can come on on 44 minutes. Brooks on the break and Lerma has a cross blocked.

Two minutes of added time have gone up. Boruc gets hold of the ball again. It's half-time 0-1. Bournemouth have had 45 per cent of the possession, three shots and two on target. Huddersfield have had 55 per cent possession, three shots and one on target.

Bournemouth were 0-1 up at half-time.

Second half
Löwe replaced Billing at half-time for Huddersfield. An early cross from Huddersfield lands at Daniels's feet. Wilson has barged his man over.

Mepham has to get a foot in as Huddersfield probe their way forward. Fraser is fouled by Mooy. Lerma plays it up to King who is in the clear. He looks to square it, but its a covering block that comes in for a corner. What a shame, Wilson was ready to receive the ball in front of goal.

The ball is out for another corner. Fraser to take. The keeper drops the ball, but is fouled by Mepham. Aké makes a mistake, but Mepham reads it well and drives the ball out of defence.

Pritchard goes down a bit easy according to the referee from a challenge from Aké on the line of the box. Fraser gets a nasty challenge from Stankovic who is booked.

Bacuna has a wild shot which loops over. Aké gets a strong tackle in. Huddersfield are making a sub. Mounie departs for Grant to come on after 61 minutes.

Wilson tumbles over Bacuna and Huddersfield have the free kick. King on the break over runs it. Brooks gets treated and he's now subbed for Solanke on 65 minutes. He is walking off very gingerly. Mooy has a shot that Surman blocks.

King plays a ball forward for Wilson and he squares it, Fraser is free and scores bottom right corner on 66 minutes 0-2.

King goes for goal and Lössl has to make a fine save to his right. Solanke robs the keeper and Clyne scoops the ball over.

King on the run and his ball is too long for Solanke. Fraser gets back to block Durm. Huddersfield have a corner. Pritchard puts in a good cross and Mepham blocks Jorgensen.

Daniels has some instructions given to him from the bench. King goes on a run and the shot from Wilson bobbles up straight into the arms of Lössl.

Boruc now makes a save from Kachunga at the other end for a corner. Kachunga is subbed on 76 minutes and Rowe replaces him.

Huddersfield though the middle, Pritchard and Grant, but Mepham puts a great challenge in. Amazing tackle from Mepham to get back.

Mepham slips. Mooy has a shot blocked. Lerma gets the ball away. King has fouled Stankovic. Huddersfield have been given a corner. It's volleyed away by Surman. Lerma still has to get a block in on Zanke.

Boruc comes out well as Huddersfield over hit a ball. Solanke is fouled by Schindler. Wilson has a free kick wide on the left, just four minutes to go. Aké with a head is saved and King has the ball by the post but can't get it over the line. King goes down but doesn't get a penalty. It looked like King saved his own shot that was going in! Fraser has been booked.

Fraser puts in a cross from the left and King fires wide from six yards. Mousset is coming on. Daniels puts the ball out for a corner.  Boruc and Aké clear.  Mooy is carded for a deliberate handball.

King is subbed for Mousset to come on after 90+1 minutes. Three minutes of injury time being played. Daniels blocks a cross for a corner to Huddersfield. Solanke gets it clear and that's the full-time whistle.

Fraser wins the game for AFCB.

Summary
Bournemouth had they key men back to win this game. The first half from Wilson gave Bournemouth breathing space and it was Ryan Fraser who was getting the Cherries ticking. Meanwhile, Lerma was soaking up all the loose balls in midfield. Boruc had little to do, but that was often because Mepham was making crunch tackles just in time. This is just what Bournemouth needed. The terrible away pointless run is over after nine games and Bournemouth are on the verge of certain safety.
