Wigan will test the Cherries' cup credentials

Wigan Athletic are set up to have a real tilt at League One and with Paul Cook the former Portsmouth manager now in charge there is a bit of history between Howe going up against Paul Cook. Wigan can bring some 1350 fans to Dean Court for this game and they have already had to fight hard to get this far having been taken to two legs against AFC Flyde in the last round, having beaten Crawley To in the first round.

Former Cherry Sean MacDonald is still at Wigan Athletic but he has been injured since last season and is only just getting near to playing again. Their midfield is still strong with former Pompey winger Gary Roberts now with his former manager and Lee Evans on loan from Wolves. Jack Byrne is a Republic of Ireland U21 central midfielder and Michael Jacobs is another former Wolves player. Some Bournemouth fans might also remember watching Nick Powell who was a former Man Utd player, who has scored 10 goals for the Latics so far this season.
It's likely to be a very different line up for the Wigan match
from AFCB's last home match against Everton.
Their big names are up front where they have Will Grigg, the Northern Ireland striker who has been prolific for his country and Noel Hunt who was a former Pompey striker. Wigan have already scored 50 goals this season in the league and have only conceded 12 in that time, losing just three matches.

So while Wigan are a League One side in name they are already playing like a mid-to top half Championship side and Howe will have to be mindful of how many experienced players he takes out of the Bournemouth side to play Wigan.

In other news, Lewis Grabban has ended his loan with Sunderland and looks set to join Wolves next week. Aaron Ramsdale has also been loaned to Chesterfield.
