Is AFCB's win over Tottenham a significant win?

While any win counts as three points, some games are more valuable than others in the development for a club. Having not beaten Tottenham before there is a hurdle that has been overcome not just for the team, but also for Eddie Howe. He has managed a team that has beaten a Mauricio Pochettino side at last, and what he has to take from that is that AFCB deserved their win.
All together - we can do this.
Some might say that Tottenham only played with nine men for most of the game. Of course they are right. But it was down to the frustration of Spurs that they were only left with nine men to play the game. Bournemouth have had more men sent off since the 2015-16 season when Bournemouth came up than any other Premier League team - a total of 18 players sent off. AFCB are good at rattling teams and having the pace to make opposition teams make mistakes.

Tottenham may well have won the game if they had kept all their players on the pitch. But the record books will say Bournemouth won the game and being only the second win against a top six team this season it was a significant result for the Cherries. The run that AFCB have put together in 2019 has not been consistent, but the wins against Chelsea, Brighton and Spurs have at least given the team something to hold on to.

While the counter-attacking football of the Chelsea and Brighton wins were able to show the clinical finishing that Bournemouth sometimes have, it is the Spurs win that might just register higher in the eye of Eddie Howe. It is not always easy to knock over teams that have less men on the field and Bournemouth's players probably learnt a valuable lesson to play right to the end and not lose belief that they could win the game. That is why I believe it was a significant win over Spurs.

PS. Well done Spurs last night for getting to the Champions League final - boy did they leave it late to win that game!
