Footballers shouldn't play until it's safe for all

I can't get my head around the continued talk about a game a day from June onwards for the Premier League, with perhaps the players having games behind closed doors in neutral venues just, so the season can be completed. Oh, and of course so that we can all see it free on TV!
Players can't take risks with their health.
While it all seems ideal for the broadcasters, the revenue for the Premier League and a compromise for the supporters, what about the players? They are not guinea pigs. The safety of players has to be just as paramount as the fans, and it also gives no safety to the staff putting on the matches or the officials. I wonder what the thinking is at times. The world can manage without football for a while.

The players need to train in a safe environment and they need to train as a team as it is a team game. If they can't train together, the authorities can't expect them to play as soon as June. We don't know that when and hopefully they do play again, but the coronavirus has to be completely eliminated.

I frankly can't understand why these kind of discussions are being broadcast by the BBC for example as it only fuels the hopes of fans that the games will be back on as soon as possible no matter what. The Premier League has a great product, but it could turn it into a circus if it doesn't look after the remaining part of the season.

Safety first, has to be the way forward for any major sorting event in the next few months and if it is not safe then there can be no games.

  1. I think there is a realisation that the season is over (some lower Leagues season 19/20 now abandoned), plan for a new season, maybe finish off cup competitions and euro cup comp abandoned. Maybe a game at Wembley Liverpool v select 11 to recognise Liverpool's achievement of "winning the league".
My thought. Allow for the transfer window to stay open until 31-08, start season on 01-09 put the FA Cup to midweek games. Lower league open with FA Cup Rd 1 in last week August. Have a 3 week close season in Feb of which 10 days International window (if impossible - reinstate the Home International), otherwise no International breaks until 2021. If CV over Euro cups begins with the knockout basis from March 2021. Season to end in May with criteria in the future, if abandoned after 30 games the season will be calculated on current points plus points that would have been gained against the current seasons result achieved of the teams yet to play, to be taken as the result of abandoned game, eg Crystal 1-0 Bournemouth. The return non playable game would be Bournemouth 0-1 Crystal. Or some other prescribed method. Alas, if that were to be applied now the Cherries would be relegated - needs comparing to confirm to others around us. Danger is if season not abandoned then so many games in a short period will lead to many strain injuries and a knock on effect to the next season affecting the integrity of the competition in both seasons with Euro's further wrecking the welfare of a host of international players beyond 19/20 and 20/21 seasons.
