How badly does Bournemouth need to keep Daniels?

The door has been left open for Charlie Daniels to prove himself this season, but the Bournemouth Echo reports that it doesn't believe Charlie has changed with the first team squad yet. Bournemouth could be going into the new season with Diego Rico and Adam Smith covering the left-back position, although Lloyd Kelly is also able to play there. Does that make Daniels a passenger?
Will Charlie be a part of AFCB's 2020-21 season?
With Simon Francis and Andre Surman being let go, it is maybe only because Charlie has been out for nearly a season that he is being given more time. But Bournemouth doesn't have time to wait on many players as the season will soon be underway, and we know how damaging it can be from last season to go into a campaign with players still recovering from long-term injuries.

Personal sentiment should only go so far for players by the club. It is a business and the best options for the club have to be considered if it wants to be successful. I'd love Charlie Daniels to come back and be as good as ever, but he has a big challenge ahead of him. The drop-down to the Championship won't make it any easier, only a different kind of challenge. Daniels will have to be as strong as ever to contribute to such a long and arduous campaign.

If there is any doubt about Charlie's optimum levels then it may be the time that Bournemouth suggests that he too moves on. That sounds harsh, but Bournemouth has to be fully focussed on winning points in the new season and JT needs to go into the season knowing the full strength of his squad.

Charlie Daniels has never let Bournemouth down. That could be what the club is relying on. He has met every challenge to give him competition for his place in the team and as a battler, Daniels is the kind of layer you should want in your team. Arguably, Bournemouth didn't have enough battlers last season, so just how badly do the Cherries need to keep Daniels? JT has the chance to break with the past. However, I'm not sure he will choose to let Daniels go as the player has had the most traumatic of times, and deserves his chance to fight for a place.

In other news, a new mental health group has been launched - @CherriesTalking. Cherries Talking will have fans who will be trained as mental health first aiders and will be available at home and away games to chat and point people in the right direction for help and also meetings/chats/football related but with mental health involved at the club.

  1. Hopefully JT will acknowledge that wrong footed fullbacks don't really work (have they ever?), so that just leaves Rico and Daniels at left back. Daniels has always been massively under-rated, and we will need his class more than ever in the Championship. Look how well Bruno did for Brighton.
If Adam Smith and Stacey are both fully fit, I would like to see one of them move up to a wide midfield role.
