Baily Cargill will make a name for himself in Scotland

I wonder what Baily Cargill thinks when he looks back at AFCB and sees a club in the Premier League to which he belongs and yet has hardly been given a crack at playing in the first team. It's not that Baily isn't good enough to be challenging for a place in my view, but timings and opportunities just haven't come up at the right time for him, and I'm sure Bournemouth fans will agree with me that Partick Thistle are getting an excellent centre-back.

The loan spell could be just as productive for Baily as it was for Emerson Hyndman at Rangers. While Emerson has not been able to get into the team at Bournemouth I expect him to get a loan move in this window and re-boost his career as well away from Dean Court. The Scottish Premiership is as good a testing ground as any for a young player and if Baily's first game is against Celtic he will find it quite different from playing for Fleetwood.

It is funny how things work out for different players as while Cargill has been an England U21 player and has been doing well on his travels, he must be impressed that Jack Simpson has managed to get a couple of appearances in the Premier League at AFCB. One day it would be quite something if we see them both running out in a Bournemouth side, but for young players to make it at the top level there has to be a lot of twists and turns it seems and a smooth course if rarely achieved.

Baily is now 22 and he is at the stage where he certainly needs to be playing every week so I hope for him that he enjoys that at Partick Thistle. He has really done some miles now having had loans at Torquay and Coventry as well. But he has been given a tough task at Partick as they are second from bottom in their league and they will need some strong defending to pull away from that position.
